Last night I set up a 40m dipole about 5.5' above ground and had a good 4/7 QSO with an operator in Ohio. I can hear New Hampshire, Florida, Louisiana and Alabama, but so far Ohio is my furthest contact East with the configuration described below. End plan is an Inverted-L with the vertical portion about 25' high. I'm operating on my backyard patio with an IC-730 powered from a marine deep cycle battery, putting out ~100W through an old Dentron Super Tuner (I have to send my SGC-239 back for repair) into 300 ohm ladder line to the NVIS configured dipole. I'll start listening for you all in about 4 hours on 7213.0  73 KE7xxx Northern Nevada |

sounds like there's qso's on both 7.213 and 7.223 which one is arfcom? lol...can't quite make either out. |

Thanks! took the test the tuesday before the labor day weekend, and still waiting on FCC to update stuff. Occasionally forget the /AG part, but i correct myself as soon as i notice it. I was using a 10M base antenna, but it does'nt seem to transmit for squat off of 10M. so yesterday i set up a makeshift inverted v of sorts. Seems to be working pretty decent.

SnakeEye, I am on the West coast, and can hit NV piece of cake from my location, if you want to try some evening soon. I can hear the same guy in Sparks NV every night on 7220 without fail. |

Roger....just asked if you were an arfcommer. lol... just barely pickign you out. adjusted the squelch a bit, and switched to soundcard. my psk interface is crap. I'm picking up some voice traffic in the background it seems. can't pinpoint it. |

Yes, that's Scotty in Sparks. He's a retired LEO and jumped into ham radio a little over a year ago. We're so close to each other (30 miles) that we have a hard time hearing each other most of the time  I can set up again on Wednesday night (10th). It's tough to catch the east coast group because of the time difference and my work schedule during the week. At this time I'm SSB Phone only. [ETA] I'll try and get home a bit early so I can get on the air before 0200 GMT. |

ARRRRRRGHHH.... I can hear you talking about reloading and 75 vs 77 grain bullets! The noise level is just so high though [ETA] it's getting better the lower the sun gets in the sky, gonna try for a break in at 22 after the hour. [ETA2] And there's a QSo at 7211 that is competing in my end as well and another at 7225 that is blanketing 7223  [ETA3] Now 7214 has a QSO going and I've effectively lost the ability to copy you fellas out east. I do however have some cool planes from the Reno Air Races cruising the North Valley by my house this evening. |

I heard someone talking with a station in PA, but the static and crashes were so bad I couldn't get much else. I caught the whole call and name for the PA station, but static set in and I only got the first 2 parts of the other station before they faded into the s9 static. Very overcast and rainy here. |

| Excellent connection this evening once we jumped up to 7275.5 to clear all the other QSOs. You were easily 20db over for the majority of the contact. I'm going to see about changing the orientation of my dipole and see if that helps our next QSO. |
