Yep, and the band is noisy as usual. The two active stations are much further East of us, so I'm not surprised you can't hear them. I had a good copy for a bit but they dropped off. |

Hello, Well at least you guys heard me last night... i put up a 6 meter vert dipole for my tv so i could watch chan 2 news... and then when i got on the hf rig 5 over S9 noise level. so after some looking around And some words... i unpluged the coax at my tv and the noise droped too an S6  . Yep"anyone on this eve? i have, ahem, a new radio which promises great things... ar-jedi" Cool deal, I hope to hear you on the air! |

I've been thinking here lately that we might explore holding a PSK net as well. Assuming everyone who can check into the net currently can tune 40m, working PSK on 7.070 shouldn't be a problem. Ceraldi and I have been playing quite a bit with PSK here as of late, and have been making long distance contacts (I worked Spain the other day) even with awful prorogation. Ceraldi built the interfaces for his and my Yaesu rigs. He can get you the plan to build one if you would like. We can discuss date and times here if you guys are interested in doing this. Maybe something on an alternating schedule from the echolink net. Let me know if you all are interested, and we can get things moving on setting up a PSK net. 73 ScottPD KJ4XXX |
+1 PSK31 is good stuff... works well in bad conditions. also MFSK is good for horrible conditions probobly better than PSK but one you have the interface you can do them all. we are both using DM780 that bundled with www.ham-radio-deluxe.com/ Anyways im in and if anyone needs help with building an interface for about $10 and parts from rat shack let me know, its not hard. -A KI4xxx |

Who can work 75m? I just got on the air with a MFJ hamstick clone dipole @ 30' (its @ the peak of my roof). Worked GA tonight testing out a rig I thought about trading him for. The band was quiet but active. I'd be interested in seeing if we could get something up and running. 73 Scott KJ4XXX |
Is the plan for the sound card interface on the web somewhere? I decided to just go ahead and order the Yaesu 857D. I was going to get one eventually anyway. Gigaparts says it is in stock. Scott |
I used this schematic:  I did not make the PTT interface as I use digital VOX on my FT-450 and ScottPD uses HRD's built in keying thought the CAT interface for his FT-857 Also i point of advide, if you have a "DATA" jack on the rear of your radio use that vs using the mic and headphone jacks, the audio filters will be bypassed and it will also leave your mic connected so you can switch back and forth between digi and SSB with the phus of a button. if you rig has a "digi" or "digital" mode along with USB, LSB and AM it can likley do this and it will be much better. if not then use the mic/headphone method and it will work but with some sacrifices. consult your rigs manual for a pinout for the DATA jack and an interfacing method for AFSK using that jack. most Yeasu rigs most use a mini din (kayboard) connector btw. -A |

I can do PSK. Been receiving alot of signals, but no one hearing me. I'm using a 10M vertical 1/4 wave over 1/2 wave with a LDG Z-11 PRO It tunes up to 80M and receives great. Must not output worth a shit. Made plenty of contacts on 10M, but nothing other than that. Guess i'll have to look into a dipole or G5RV of some sort. |

I can do it tonight. It'll give me a chance to try out Fldigi on my Ubuntu Linux system. There's so much room on PSK31 that we don't have to stray far from 7.070. It's not just a calling freq, it's pretty much THE operating freq since so many signals fit. How about 7069 with a 700Hz offset? |
