So, while I will eat crow about overstating the dissimilarities on the OEM2, that doesn't invalidate my larger point about them being a parts assembler. If the barrels, uppers, (some of) the bolt carriers are coming from outside . . . . (and who knows what else), are they a manufacturer or an assembler? Please save the argument about "other companies doing the same thing." All I'm talking about is "heyday Colt" and current colt. If you think they are "as good" as they used to be at their, I'd love to hear why - educate me - I'm not unreasonable, and can be convinced. I'm not particularly brand-loyal to one company or another. I love firearms from companies that I hate, and I don't "hate" Colt at all. I wouldn't even say I dislike them. I have a real appreciation for what they represent and their history (and have Vickers' book on the AR, which of Course is unreal in what it shows about them). YES, all 22 of them. |

On the other hand, based on some members dealing with CCC, I believe that they mark them in stock when they have an “order” in for some in the hopes that they get them. This happened with someone on here a a socom. I’m not saying either is the right thing to do but there is a big difference between it. AU is shady enough but I’ll deal with them any day over CCC. |

I do know they did a good dead for people here once who go duped by others selling run-of-the-mill safeties as Colt and helped them out. Will I speak out for them from time to time. Yes, just as anyone will who has had a good experience with any company. You don't see me waving their flag, just pointing out where this audience might benefit. Yes, years ago, it used to bother me that folks who had no direct experience would talk bad bout them or any other vendor. My guess is that they have not met the minimums for your state. AU may seem like a household name, but that is only amongst this audience here - Colt fans. Outside the diehard Colt fan, their consumer Web traffic is small. Bottom line: as online business grow, each will be collecting sales tax. That will add another overhead cost to otherwise small businesses, and maybe someone will figure out an easy way for small business to compliant. One brand I work with tells me they spend around $2,000 per month, just for sales tax compliance. This brand is a lot smaller than Primary Arms, but a little bigger than CCC or AU. Still, it adds up, just like credit card fees. |
