You can see the serial on the rifle in the GB ad, CR651250, nothing really special and it had already been stated that these would be CR prefix serials in this thread by someone very knowledgeable. |

These C stamped uppers we are seeing are part of an old batch that was done some time ago with the extra cut and have been sitting around waiting to be used. How many do they have like this? No idea, there could have been 100 or 10,000 of them done at some point. I think we will see a change at some point though. This is just my theory on it though. |
| That theory is sound. Uppers that were being allocated to a Mil. program that did not occur and now using them on commercial rifles. It actually would be unwise to not do that. Glad that Colt under CZ ownership is injecting new products into the market at a time when the commies in D.C. are trying to stop this. |

The M5 upper receiver and lower receiver are unique. The upper receiver, besides having the interface between the top rail on the receiver and the top rail on the handguard, has a unique extended barrel extension interface that sticks out farther on the M5 upper than it does on a normal M4 type upper. Unfortunately I do not have a photo handy |

Just an observation. At one time Colt may have been pitching these to the Mil. and had them already marked with the required CAGE code for delivery if they were to be accepted. Will the barrel be marked with the CAGE code? We shall see as more show up in our hands. So you know for a fact the the "Upper" alone was never meant for a contract, just civy sales? I was just pointing out that I thought it interesting that the upper was stamped with a "C" and not a CAGE code as all of the new Colt's come with and the shit storm over just that comment that has followed is amazing. Seeing how Colt no longer stamps the "C" on uppers anymore, it gave the appearance of these being out of old inventory. Unless this forum has a defined Colt employee as the moderator, all this back and forth is pure speculation and gossip driven to give us to something to debate about on the interweb.  This is the catalog from Colt's website COLT.COM/INTERNATIONAL It shows the lowers as select fire and with barrel length options of 10.3", 11.5" and 14.5" So, that tells me these rifles were not just made for the "U.S. market". Colt refined the design based on user feedback before introducing it to the U.S. market. The batch of M5's that just hit the market here in the U.S. was made for the U.S. market. Production delays is what caused the original release in June to get pushed back to August when these first went on sale. I will provide an additional reply tonight or this weekend regarding your statement about "no more C stamps". I don't have time to get my rifles out of my safe to provide photo reference and I don't want to make a half-assed reply. |

I would prefer no cage codes for no other reason than it looks better. I think most here would agree the recent drama concerning CR prefixes et al. is retarded. I am hoping to see future M5 models with more interesting roll marks however. |

I was stating older stock being brought forth to make new guns. I did not speak of selling these "new" Sentry rifles to the Mil. or international agencies. All I said was I found it interesting that the upper was marked as a "C". User "oxford411" agreed and made his "theory" known to which I agreed could be plausible. User "CYBIN" then asked why would the upper be CAGE code marked if not for the Mil.? Great question but my answer was along the lines of having these uppers in the pipeline before CAGE codes became a thing. Not the new CM5 Sentry as a whole. I am sure you would agree that Colt takes a loooong time to bring new things to market. This does not mean that it wasn't around for awhile before hand.
