Mine has arrived! Bipod, Hunter stock, and t-shirt. Because one can never have too many Magpul t-shirts. And I figured I needed to try out the new bipod with my new stock.
I like it! So exited to have a good stock on it. I hated the factory stock. Fits and feels great. Just like the 700 Hunter if you've ever held one. The Magpul buttstock has the weight needed that I had added into the Rugers factory cheapo stock. Forend has a stout feel. The cheap feel of the Ruger American is long gone.
Bipod went on easy. It's nifty. I've used Harris for so long, everything else looks and feels different. But I do like the design. Action dropped right in very easy. The Hunter came with the V action blocks not in the stock, but in the screw bag. Two screws for the action into the stock. Then the bottom metal screws on over the factory action screws with another two screws. The 4 screws are the same size.
So far, my only gripe is the barrel channel size. Maybe Magpul set this size anticipating a Ruger American Varmint with a heavy barrel. I don't see the Larger bore Americans needing that much barrel channel space, but maybe. The barrel on my American Predator looks small in the stock. There is a large gap all the way around the full length of the forend and at the cap. Doesn't affect function, but it has the hotdog in the hallway look.
Shoot trip is scheduled. Can't wait to get it out. I haven't set everything to torque yet. I need to pull the action out for some oil. And I might work on the trigger some more. Now that we are an all copper state, I want to check the Barnes LRX bullet. And see how the new stock and bipod work.
