Did the Colt Canada one you bought have the CC barrel marks?

View Quote Yep - normal pins, F/A BCG with the 'C' marking (older non-dot matrix style), F marked front sight post, 'C' marked upper, 'M4' marking on front of upper. Summit Listing for trade-in Colts You can also pull up Summit's listings on Gunbroker, but keep in mind your bid, plus taxes and fees, plus shipping - you could get a rifle a bit cheaper, but you have to be mindful of all the GB fees on top of the bid price. |

It seems your entire rifle except the barrel is the Canadian version Colt. Odd how the only part from the US is the barrel though. I always like the Canada ones, the font is different and there is a gray finish to them.

Also, the Diemaco/Canada rifles are the only Colts I own with the flashing milled flush inside the trigger guard. The fit/finish is noticeably better than any of my Colt USA built guns. |

Strange they only part not marked from Canada is the barrel. And I have no idea on how to pull the barrel off. If I did manage to get it off, what marking do I look for to see if it was made in Canada?

I just picked up a trade-in 6721 from one of our local agencies, very small department with 12 patrol officers. The handguards and stock are not original to it but everything else is. $799 plus tax, and included the 2 year old Aimpoint PRO! I figure I got the rifle for $400. Pretty lightly worn and doesn’t seem to have a high round count. Specs are:
- LBD 0102XX serial number - Receivers are black ano, webbed lower, large pin FCG, front take down screw, AF forge with raised “C,” M4 feed ramps that appear to have been machined after anodizing, no “M4” above gas tube port, no T marks -Half moon BCG -Barrel year of manufacture is 1999 Attached File Attached File |

Well, well, well. How the turn tables...

I absolutely would have scraped up money somehow for something like that, I love finding a deal on a trade in earlier LE gun. 6721’s will always be a favorite of mine. Basically they were the first detachable carry handle models seen in qty in the wild for LE use for a long while. A lot of A2 sight 6520’s got replaced with 6721’s, well before the 6920 model appeared. Heavy 1/9 barrel, so they gave good service with 55 gr ammo. My first one was actually a 6731 (A2 stock version) that was swapped to carbine stock and 6721 config. Carried it for years, now it is the gun in the lock in the bedroom set up for HD needs. Went from using the A3 upper irons, to an Eotech, to an Aimpoint. Flashlight has been upgraded a few times as well. Other than that, pretty much has not been changed in over 25 years. Still has the original single point mount and sling I used as well. Glad to see folks are always on the lookout for these trade ins (I peruse the sales as well). Always said that if you buy a Colt AR at a good price, it will hold its value pretty well. Has not been proven wrong yet, despite generic AR prices plummeting in the last 20 years. (Paid $600 for that 6731 brand new back in the day on letterhead, it was a bit of an oddball- pre ‘94 ban parts built up by Colt after the ban took effect.) Well hell- after typing all that up, I feel old now! Sucks when people are retro cloning rifles that I carried! |
