GMW, I have the brass foot rail if you want to spruce the thing up a bit. It's long enough to go across the front and down one of the sides. I also have the caps. We never did engineer was a way to attach it, there may be some fittings in the bag, but I don't remember..

Cool, that'll match the two "shiny spots" up on the roof. So, you coming over or what? |

Hot tub wood panels have been stained now, looks brand fuckin' new! 106% improvement!

Both decks look very nice.
Mike - I was wondering why you did the half walls around the perimeter? |
|
Way good work. I can't wait to come over and "mook" on the new deck.

Mike - I was wondering why you did the half walls around the perimeter? They were necessary for structural stability. The two 20 foot long glulam beams moved around too much. I like them because they provide privacy while sitting in the hot tub. |

Niiiice!
Is the roof slanted? Reinforced? My first thought was, what happens when it snows. Maybe just leave the hot tub open for the winter to keep it warm out there |
|
|
Yeah, I was wondering why on earth you'd want the top to be heavier than the support ... without having the posts braced.
Of course the roof wood move around too much. I'd still be somewhat concerned about that roof moving. Maybe still need some bracing on the posts at the bottom. |
|
Yep.
Bar just needs a REAL beer, like a Henry's, instead o' that damn Corona. |

consequently, I used to own that exact same grill before we moved out here. Ended up giving it to friends as a wedding gift since we couldn't bring it with us. |

I see a rubber duck. |

Looks great!
Can you show a little more detail on the ceiling? I'm looking for ideas on how to finish the underside of our deck. |

Looks great! Can you show a little more detail on the ceiling? I'm looking for ideas on how to finish the underside of our deck. The ceiling and interior walls are IntegraPly exterior grade underlayment. It has a 25 year warranty against warping and delamination. It's used primarily as a subfloor and for exterior camper and boat sheating. It's a 5 ply engineered product that is 5.5 mm thick and very lightweight. If memory serves me correct, it's about $14.00 for a 4x8 sheet. The seams were trimmed with 1x2 tight knot cedar. ETA: There is not a seam everywhere there is a strip of cedar. I trimmed it like that on purpose to balance out the offset seam on the right side of the structure. |

No stairs. Zack is going to fall down.
EDIT: Nevermind, regardless of stairs, railing, safety harness, or him being in an entirely different zip code, he's going to fall down. |

I like it GMW. Nice work.
Come see me for where to buy your supplies for the hot tub. The advertisements I get daily would heat that thing for a month, easy. Your structure turned out nice. Enjoy the hell out of it |

Now tear it down, and rebuild so the door opens onto that pre-existing landing. The boards were there to keep the dirt beneath them (had a stump ground out there) from splattering on the siding, in case of rain. Now that the gutter has been installed they are no longer there. I am thinking about building a short step in the opening of the deck. I just haven't had time to do it yet. |
