Its been too long, time to renew the fellowship. I'm thinking the end of September before folks head of to Gunstock. Brian's shop is better stocked than ever! Given notice we can lay supplies in... stripped lowers, ammo... whatever you desire... well within reason .
Who would be up for a wild and crazt weekend in Albany? |
I'm an hr south of Albany , So what are you thinking , Got a place to shoot ?
We haven't had a chance to shoot yet at a gathering. The ranges here are private clubs, limited members to bringing a couple guests and want us to carry our own insurance policy for the day making it cost prohibitive. We just get together to shoot the shit, buy guns, grab a meal or two, throw back a couple and just enjoy the company. They have been a lot of fun!
With houses being built,a grandson being born in Nov and Gunstock among other things, there is no way I can make it out of here until this year is over!
Hmmmmm, well maybe we look at moving it to Syracuse over Eastern, NY... we've done several here, maybe something a little closer to Ed and he can join us for lunch... Its not an ARFCOM gathering without Ed!
Maybe a meeting at the Syracuse (18-19th) or Rochester (25-26th) fun shows? Those are the last 2 weekends in September.
These are probaby a bit of a drive for the NYC/LI crew:( |
Thankfully, my IIIA vest is ready! |
I'm thinking of one of those new FN 5.7 pistols... what do you think about those? Up for some real world testing? Syracuse show could be a lot of fun! Haven't been in a couple of years.

Syracuse I can do most weekends, but like SP10 said,it is a long drive for the NYC/NJ guys.
Bottom line, we can't be everything to everybody. We've talked about doing Syracuse before. The way I see it, NYC to Syracuse is about the same as Buffalo to Albany. Believe me, I'd love to have everyone to Albany. But a good gun show beats a great gun shop every day of the week. Its not a NY ARFCOM gathering without the Avilas. I'm thinking Syracuse is just the way to go. I was thinking Rochester but opted Syracuse because it is an hour and a half closer to NYC than Rochester.
So that's my proposal, ARFCOM gathering in Syracuse for the Gun Show, I'll be amending the title of this thread. Anybody know the organizers of the show? Any chance we can get a table as a rally point where folks can check in and such? |
I've never been to a syracuse show
might have to seriously consider it. have to see how the job thing turns out. just got a temp job at a place I applied to for a permanent position, but they aren't interviewing for that yet and offered me a different position to handle the back to school rush. Job's at UB's on campus computer store. no idea if I'll be working weekends by that weekend, right now I am |
I've got a table at the show with a couple other fellow ARFcommers. I will get the number later.
Jack Ackerman, out of Binghamton, NY, is the show organizer. Same as the Albany show. I'm willing to bet there might be a table still available if you wanted one. You never know. |
Sheeeeet, I can do Rochester and back in one day! (long as we don't linger over a second cup of coffee after dinner of course.) |
OK, the Social Director has chimed in... Syracuse it is. I'll call Aimless and put him to work finding a hotel by the Thruway exit for those who want to stay over. Don't worry HD, I'll have him ask about high speed Internet.
Hmmmm, dinner options Saturday after show? Tully's and Fresno's in Fairmount, reasonably close and very easy to get to from the Fairgrounds, or something better?
And a bar.....don't forget the BAR! |
I'm up for the drive, but as far as the food and drink, please guys, no funny business. You know who you are. Ed sr is not our sugar daddy. We're all old wnough to pay for food and drinks.
Amen, but you weren't the one the old coot put into an arm lock and had his face shoved into the bar for trying to reach for it. Tullys is a good mid range family steak house/sport's bar type deal. Sounds right up ARFCOM ally from what I remember. |
if you guys accept tourists i could probobly make rochester on the 25th-26th as i will be in endicott for 3 weeks.
mike |
That would be nice Mike, but like we said, Rochester adds too much on top of the trip the NYC folks will already be making. Syracuse is smack in the middle of the state thruway and is really about as fair as we can make it for all concerned. Just come early!
I have a table at the Syracuse show, and would like to join in.
It's tough to socialize during the show if you have a table, about the time a converssation gets started some ya-hoo wants to butt in with twenty questions about a gun he has no intention of buying. Dinner after the show would be very nice, and I will pay my own way. (inside joke, right?) |
Sadly... no... Ed. Sr. has a habit of killing anybody who reaches for a check. I'm figuring we just need to link arms and sing "we shall overcommmmmmmmmme"
Syracuse it is,then.
Mike (TBS),if you don't make Syracuse I will meet you for the Rochester one. I promise: we will all chip in for the check! |
Don't worry TBS, we also hit the Rochester show in the AM and then have lunch with Ed, kind of becoming a tradition |
Man, I may have to rent one of them hybrid cars for this trip. I'm still in though.
Vinnie, get your butt up to Albany and ride in with me the rest of the way. I'll likely be crashing with family, but I can get you there if you get here.
I'm in, and I'll see if ICU wants to carpool! What about Dinosaurs BBQ or the Outback? Tell me where and when you want to meet, I'll be there! If we can find a motel for the ARFCOM Crew for Saturday night that would be good too, they might give us a discount for multiple members. If we all meet at the show give us a time and place within the building I suggest the small room where they put Ammoman.com It wooudl be easier than say the middle of the show. Suggest FRS Radios turned to Channel 10, that way if we get there earlier some of us might take in the show TOGETHER! Callsign will be ARFCOM -then your nearest city OK? Example: Adirondack/ICU's callsign would be ... ARFCOM -Utica... What do ya think guys? |
No way on the Dinosaur... you'll never get everyone seated together, the wait is forever and its way over-rated... I personally hate it and I grew up in Syracuse. FRS radios are a good idea!
Hiram too bad you didn't make it to Utica this June for GUNS ALONG THE MOHAWK, We had a GREAT Time!
Looking forward to seeing you in Syracuse. |
Me too man, I've lost touch this summer with folks. Really looking forward to this!

Tully's is probably the best bet for dinner rather than going back in to Syracuse, and pretty good food. Address is 3355 W. Genesse St, Fairmount, 13219. We usually go here after the gunshow. Simply get back on State Fair Blvd from Fairfrounds front entrance, heading W (left), turn right on 695 W ramp towards Auburn/Fairmount. When on 695, stay towards left lanes, towards Fairmount. If you go right, you go to Auburn. 695 ends on W. Genesee Street. You will be looking at a Wegmans directly in front of you. Tullys is just across the street (same side as Wegmans) to your right. Can't miss it. Distance is ~3-4 miles.
FYI, the Fairgrounds address is 581 State Fair Blvd, Syracuse, 13209. This is a good show, upwards of 800+ tables. As an aside, there is also a new Bass Pro shop you guys might find of interest, located on Rt 5 just west of Auburn. |

Sounds like fun, hope you gents don't mind if I invite myself! Looks like it's a 3-4hr drive from Orange County. I should know for sure in the next couple of weeks if I can make it, have to confirm my work schedule.
Wow................if one of the NY downstate crew, makes it this far upstate -other than Helldog40- we'll have to change our opinion of you!
j/k That is not enough to change our opinion! |
OMG, Ed managed to say something FUNNY!
Quick call Guiness! No Papa Smurf... not the Ale... |
Yous'll be welcome!
Stay away from SP10.He thinks he's the bomb! Aimless,on the other hand,IS-THA-BOMB! |

You jerk, you just jinxed it! |
Not to worry. They have big ass rotary plows up there. Roads will be clear in no time!
