Victor I'm being serious when I say if you are open carrying an AR you may want to think about some responses to questions the media might ask you before hand. I have no doubt you are a smart dude from your responses in the forum but the MSM slander people for a living.

I am more than prepared for that and don't worry I wont make you guys look bad if they single me out.  I may be a bit abrasive in the company of friends but I know how to work my point in public to gain favor of rational people.

I was at the immigration rally. That was some crazy shit. La Raza, communist party, and countless other left wing radicals were out in full force. A small group of us stood out in front of the entire protest. We even got bull horned by a bat shit crazy brown beret wearing bitch.
I also personally watched victorgonzales get interviewed by some foreign journalists covering the event. These are the same scum bags that are pushing the antigun
movement. If your not sure about going, just do it. I'm bringing my 2 youngest sons along to witness history unfold. If you care about your 2nd Amendment rights one bit, take a couple hours out of your day and stand up for Liberty.

You don't have to worry about being the only person out there.

There's going to be a pretty good showing, I think.

DAM! that is some dedication. I'll probably leave at 11:30 and stop for coffee and a 10 minute shop at shootersworld and still make it there with time to spare.

Unfortunately I won't be there, but if any of you guys get the opportunity to talk to the media can you please make a well articulated argument about how a rifle like an AR-15 is far superior for home defense than something like a handgun or shotgun.  That's something that I haven't really seen anyone on our side do yet.  We all know the 2nd isn't about home defense, but the more points we can make in our favor, the better.

That would suck. The time is now text/email/call everyone you know and try to get them to show up for at least 10 minutes or so to show support.

Really? really? If you don't see why it's important to leave the bean bag chair and set down your bologna sandwich for 5 minutes to stand up against tyranny then there is nothing more I can say to you.

The way that I took his comment is that he was talking about OTHERS being too preoccupied to care.

Gun Appreciation day was put out, suggested,  promoted by many as a day to go to the range, gun shop, gun show, by ammo, etc.. and not primarily as a day to go to demonstrate at state capitals.

So if many people do not show at the capital it is understandable.

I wouldn't go past 300 people being there at one time. People were coming and going all the time. Media left at about 12:15  no news trucks
or anything. they were there at 11:30 though.

I would have guessed there was close to 500+ there right before I left. Some politicians were there, the patriot guard drove by, I thought it went well. I would have liked to have seen more but I thought it was a pretty good crowd. Everyone loved the signs ragedracer brought, lots of people asked if they could take pictures of them and I handed two off to two guys coming in right as I left.

I don't know, I was guessing approaching 2,000 people at the peak. Not well organized, impossible to hear the speeches. Lots of good signs though.

My favorite sign was a drawing of an AR15 with the phrase "Is it because I'm black?" Awesome.

I'm not any good at counting crowds, but 3-500 is pretty fair estimate, I think.

But yes, people were coming and going.

Who were all the Reps that spoke?  Some I couldn't see, but heard.

I know Carl Seel was there, as was Kelly Townsend (open carrying an Arizona edition Ruger LCP), Russell Pearce (even though he's not a rep anymore).  Was it Paul Gosar who spoke at one point?

I had not planned to go but reading it this morning I decided to just do it.

I wasnt sure how long something like that goes on, apparently it is less than 2 hours for that size crowd... Not a bad sized crowd considering.

If rallying at state capitols had been the plan from the beginning for this gun appreciation day it could have been MUCH bigger.

I imagine the turn out at the gun show was good though.

I passed out over a hundred free waters and little Debbie snacks.  Alan got my last water.  I would guess the number was closer to 1000 based on the percentage of people who I offered water too and those that accepted.  I was there from 11 to 2.

Oh the guy I brought with me today was not the guy I was talking about earlier in this thread, the one that was afraid rounds would be fired. That guy ended up too afraid to go and he texted me later on and said "sorry I couldn't make it man I didn't wake up until 1:30" which I find hard to believe since we get up at 5:30am for work everyday.

I wonder how many others didn't show up for the same reason. For some reason though time and time again all republican/right wing based rallies always end peacefully, and the same is true for the opposite side almost all democrat/leaf leaning rallies end in some kind of violence, graffiti, or pooping on police cars.

I was there from about 12:45 - 1:00.  Ran into some fellow arfcomers but missed most of you.  Chatted up Russell Pierce for a bit.

I'd estimate the crowd at the peak was probably around 1,000.  Not a bad showing but I was expecting more.  Kind of disappointed.
