My 4" Model 681. Father-in-law purchased it new in the early 80s and gave it to me for Christmas 5 or 6 years ago. He had Pachmeyer grips on it when he gave it to me and I put some new Hoages on there. He says he still has the original wood grips at home somewhere but he never has been able to find them. (I don't think I'd use them anyway.) Solid as a bank vault, imo.

4" 28-2
I was nostalgic for my first carry weapon in the late 80s and a buddy in MO found this at a show for me. I picked it up from my FFL today. This thing is 95% or better. The case color on the hammer and trigger is some of the best I've ever seen and the screw heads are perfect. Sadly it didn't come with the wood grips. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. Right side.

ETA I replaced the Hogue with some 1985 dated grips yesterday. It looks a lot better now. I did clean the residue from the Hogue off the right side after I took the picture.

I was cleaning up the "back room" today and found this in one of the tubs. This 66-1 was my carry weapon in the early 90s. When the department transitioned to the 4006 we were given the option of purchasing our revolvers. I leapt at the opportunity. This was the only weapon in the department's armory that had been to the Smith custom shop according to the armorer who preceded me. Once he transferred to another department I made sure it was issued to me. It has the smoothest double action pull I've ever had the pleasure to shoot.
