Got my S&W 686-4 back from gunsmith
cut the 6" back to 5", Weigand front sight base, dawson .100" fiber also, installed a new 7 shot cylinder.

This image is just amazing on so many different levels. A show stopper. Partially is for the model 10 (my personal favourite of the entire S&W history) but then, the framing and contents of the image. Lightning. Et cetera. Superb. |

You inspired into re-purchasing a model 10 yesterday; went onto Gunbroker and just did it. Used to own a few S&Ws when in Italy, where this image was taken; when I moved "back" to the US a year ago, had to sell everything there (gun related) and I am repurchasing here. Had no Model 10. This one is really one of my most intimate dreams. Indiana Jones' true twin sister Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector in .45ACP. I found it at a local pawn shop for relatively cheap, the barrel had been cut down to about 4 inches already years ago (just like the movie ones). How's it handle? I was the same way. I still think it would look awesome without the bottom rail and the entire barrel slabbed like the first half of it but that's just me and I like it! |

I believe all the 1917s had the side markings close to the frame, hence them not looking out of place on a chop job. On the top and bottom of the barrel your gonna lose markings though. |

I do have a few revolvers (I am re-posting also my beloved model 10 in 38sp, which is very shootable as you know) and the bigger calibers are harder to handle for me. Especially with that kind of grip shape (many do change to more modern grips but that's when I don't like those revolvers anymore - to me it's gotta stay old time classics). I can definitely feel the recoil with that small of a handgrip you know. Not my thing, I am happy to have other .45ACP in semiauto that feel more manageable (my favorite of all times is my HK45C and HK45, for example). Beauties both of them!!!!
Would a tyler t grip help the grip on the .45's? They still look classic to me and don't hurt the looks of the gun. I do think they look better without them, but it's not that big of a detractor..... And fills the hand up so much better.

The difference is that the TRR8 bottom rail is detacheable, the cutout for the ejector rod goes all the way through, and the front sight bead is gold, instead of the white dot on the R8. I have the R8 as well, awesome gun. |
