So I thought I had a 22/45 Mk IV pistol in the safe but turns out it’s a Mk III.  Already have a Mk IV lite upper inbound and guessing that this combo doesn’t work (Mk III lower with Mk IV upper).

Backstory; daughter has started shooting but my Mk III is too heavy so found a Lite upper here.  Thought I had a Mk IV but nope, have a Mk III.

What do I do?  Seems like replacement Mk IV lowers aren’t a thing.

Return it. The MK 1,2,and 3 are cross compatible to a degree.

MK 4's are a whole different animal.

No interchangeability at all.

It’s from an individual and it was my mistake so not going to ask if I can return it.

if you have any clubs that shoot Steel Challenge matches near you... might be able to sell it to someone looking to have both a rim fire pistol open (RFPO) and rim fire pistol irons (RFPI) on the same receiver if the price is attractive enough, and possibly  recover some of you outlay... I just picked up a new one from Palmetto State... came on line and gone within the day...

Details on the Mark IV upper?  Someone on here may be looking for what you just blundered into...

Keep in mind that the “upper” is the serialized firearm.

Like BodyBagger suggested, if you really like the upper, buy a complete Mk.IV to get the lower. They’re not that expensive.

That or suck it up and buy the Mk.III you need for the gun in your safe.

Buy a Mk IV, problem solved!

Sucked it up and did exactly this!  Dunham’s had the plain Jane Mk IV 22/45 for $350 in stock so just ordered one to ship to my local store.

It’s been a good while since I’ve had to pay the “stupid tax” for not reading/looking ahead.

With an extra MkIV upper you can mess around with it.

Well now you and your daughter will each have a gun to shoot. You could just go ahead and give it to her. Early Christmas or whatever.

If you weren't so busy being pedantic you would have read where he bought a Mk IV that the upper will fit. So now he has two functional guns and an extra upper.

I was talking about the MKIV’s specifically but hey I guess we could go to insults.

Have a nice day.

Stubby is on my list next. I have enough 22/45's now I think I'm going to do a super short and maybe one with 1" protrusion.

Volquartsen doesn't make a MkIV frame. Their custom MkIV series pistols start with Ruger frames which come from complete pistols, which is how they can sell the top-ends with serial number matching cases so cheap.

The do manufacture their own Mk II/III series frames.

I thought he had a leftover III upper?

Sorry, re-read the OP and still don't know.
