This is the Springfield subforum. Not everyone ventures into GD or even the Handgun GD.

I recently bought one in 10mm, as some of you know, and like it a bunch. My boss was the first person I told after the purchase. He said, "I have that same gun".

He's not the only one. They're a very popular gun around here for woods carry. More so than Glock, from my personal experiences.

People are definitely moving away from revolvers as woods work and play guns.

I thought so too, then realized I had seen his identical post on XDtalk

Quoted:. But the Beretta mags had an issue of breaking the ejector on the gun if you slammed the mag in hard because the floor plates weren't the same thickness so the mag went a little further into the gun.

I've never heard that before. So I guess I'd have the same issue using full size xd mags in a sub compact? Is it only an issue if you slam the mag in? Any info on spare ejectors?

Man, this makes me think I might have to blow the dust off my xd40sc (GASP!!!) and carry it to work tomorrow just for nostalgia.

I picked that gun up when it was the new hotness and Ohio ccw was just coming about. I carried that thing daily and put a lot of rounds through it for a while. Ah, the simple times...

Hey, it was back in 2016 when I bought my first one, the 9mm HS2000. Back when these were brand new, I was rocking a Gen 3 G23C or a No-Lock S&W 442.

I beat ya by a minute or 2. Haha. I bought mine in April 2005.

Do you use full size mags in the subcompact without the grip spacer? Then it could be a problem.

Factory Mag being inserted into a subcompact.

How do you replace the ejector? Do those pins just push out? I googled it and couldn't find a single article on the subject.

I look at mine as a Glock with a better trigger and more metal parts.  Not more or less reliable, just different in ways that accomodate me better.  You know, Slavtastic

I read an article in G&A on this new Glock competitor and for some reason it fired up my love of fire arms.   Bought an XD-9 4".   Still one of two pistols I will carry regularly.   I just finally put a new recoil spring in it.  Didn't really need it but I wanted another and will keep the original as a backup.   I think it may be time to put night sights on it and maybe a new trigger, though I'm so used to the stock trigger I shoot it just fine.

If you're looking to scratch your Mod.2 itch, it appears PSA stumbled across some old stock somewhere:

XD Mod. 2 4" .45

Grip zone branding aside, the Mod. 2 frame is extremely comfortable.

I just picked up a used 9MM fullsize  4", but I'm tempted to grab one of these to go along with my subcompact Mod. 2 in. 45.

Mod.2 Grip Zone was a marketing flop that will remain in the book of XD history. At least Springfield acknowledge it and erased that now.

I have original XD45 compact and still love it to this day!

I still have my SA LE 4" in 45 GAP. Bought in 2005.

I had one...  Bought it new for 260 OTD, because the LGS had several, and they wouldn't sell.  I got it for his cost, plus tax.

I sold it in a bundle deal in 2008... Should have kept it. It was a pretty good pew.

Good write up Miami.  My XD is a shooter, just too big for EDC.
