I was able to contact Karla,
She is now going to give me updates as needed. I aske Karla if I could post their address so cards could be sent. Yes, John would love them. see below' John's update: The news is not very good. He is now under Hospice care at home. His body weight has dropped to about 100 lbs. He can communicate but is forgetful and lethargic. John has a care taker aid every day and nurse a few times a week. The hospice started about a week ago. Please use me as the go between if you need any special info. Karla is trying to keep their business going along with helping John and is very busy. Karla express her thankfulness to the Arfcom family. She cannot believe all the things Arfcom has done for John in particular keeping his spirits up. Their address is: John and Karla Suttie 1 Orno Creek Placitas, NM 87043 I'll continue to up date as Karla feeds me the information. EBR |

Thank you for the effort in making contact and getting the update for us. I was kind of afraid that was about where we were at now.
Please let Karla be reminded that John has done far more for the arfcom community that we could ever have hoped to have done for him... |

Sad though I am, I realize this has been expected... even by John.
What he did for others and himself in this unbelievable trying time is nothing less than inspiring. This has been an amazing ride consisting of exemplar examples of class, humor, humility... John has been displaying all that is good and courageous. So thankful to have opened this thread from the very beginning. Peace be with you John. With your writings, you most certainly have impacted my life in a very positive way. Peace be with you. |

Also I'll relay all you good wishes and thoughts. When we spoke she told me she tried to get on the site to give update but was unable to find John's password. At this time I think it best if we keep it with me the go between as she has so much on her plate. I will ask though if she would like a membership so she can see what we write and reply back. The choice will be hers. If she wants to get on site I'll talk to admin and see what can be done. EBR Prayers to John and Karla. |

Many mixed emotions here. I read the update last evening but just couldn't find the right words...and still probably can't.
Sadness that the progression of John's cancer has moved so quickly...yet such thankfulness for having had him here to give us such an amazing gift. He truly gave to focus to my day and how much I need to focus on the positive and appreciate all the many blessings in my life. Best of all, he did it with grace, humor and intensity. I'll not forget. My thoughts are now for a peaceful passing and for comfort and strength for Karla. John - I'll see you on the other side...and even more, I'll see you in the good of each and every day I have left on this Earth. |

John has brought us all together in his affliction. We all owe him a debt of gratitude for this.
Just this morning I told Johns story to my students. I continue to pray for John and Karla and continue to "look for the good" in everything. Rest easy my Brother. |

John, you have truly changed the lives of many people here and I'm guessing many more in real life. We all wish you the best and will continue to look for the good in every day. |

It took an enormous amount of courage to create this thread and relentlessly follow through with the honesty this man did. He said early on he felt worthless as he hadn't contributed in life as many people have. If what he thought was indeed true, he damn sure made up for it in spades during his time of dying. If his care under hospice is anything like my mother's was, he is now pain free and will most likely remain so until his passing from this life. | Having dealt with this demon called cancer in my family before, Ive only posted here a time or 2 but Ive checked in almost daily to see if perhaps a miracle was performed and John was in remission. I guess the Lord has other plans for him soon on the other side. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family in this trying time. We all have to face it, John has done it with pride and dignity. We can only hope to possess such grace when our time draws near. |

I’ve been checking in on this thread since the beginning. John, I have taken your “find the good in every day” and try to apply it everyday. I am praying for you, and Karla everyday. When I was reading my bible app before work, this verse was the verse of the day: “16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 NASB)”. For all of us, John has undoubtedly let his light shine. When my grandfather passed away from cancer in 2015, this is one of the verses of scripture that was read at his funeral: “Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.”

John is doing OK but is still bed ridden. He is weak and is hard to understand when he talks because he lost some motor skill. He can listen and read and understands the message. Karla is going to try and get onto johns account. I know this is sort of a no-no but we are going to get her an account if we can. I'll try and work it out with site management. Thanks for the update EBR. More prayers out for John and Karla. John's testimony and strength in this thread has made me find "good" at times I normally would have joined in with complaining about trivial things that pop up day to day. I stumbled upon a video last night that reminded me of John. Similar circumstances with the same drive and determination to enjoy life to its fullest and find "good" in each moment no matter what life decides to deal you. Thank you John.
