The SHTF.
What melee weapon do you pick? Machete, Sword, Hammer, Hatchet, Dagger, Other? |
Something that I could actually use somewhat effectively & be useful for more than defense? The Machete.
Chop chop chop no matter what the problem is should solve it. |
Short sword is quicker at the draw and handier in tight quarters.
i would likely choose hatchet followed by machete as they are the most useful tools there. I would do my best to avoid engaging in melee
The cane I have to use to walk and a good blade. My Kukri if I get to prepare, or just a folder would do in a pinch.
Spear if at all possible. It’s fast, easy to use and keeps things needing to be attacked further away. That would be outside though. Short sword or hatchet/tomahawk for indoors.

Same reach as a spear but looks infinitely cooler View Quote Polearms are the correct answer. I shall try to overlook the fact that your picture is of an Italian bill, or "roncone." |
Sword- can do what all of the other named weapons can in one.
My Cold Steel Gladius "machete" and my Estwing tomahawk, if I got to choose.
Machetes seem to work fine for the MS-13 gangbangers up here.
Whatever's handy or apropos for the situation. Most realistically, a bat or machete, which are very common and easy to acquire.
I'd want a little more reach than a hatchet or tomahawk would provide. A pole arm or halberd is a great weapon, though next to useless in tight quarters because they're so long. Oh, and in b4 someone says nunchucks. |
Recorded history says that the sword was the best weapon through trial and error, so I'll learn from them and go with a sword.
Gotta go with the bat. If it’s good enough for The Bear Jew, it’s good enough for me.
Hatchet. More usefull outside of a fight as well.
Second choice would be a bat. Better reach than the hatchet and it is less likely to get stuck in someone or something when I need it to not be stuck. |
Quoted: Gladius. Tomahawks tend to stick in the target, giving you a one-hitter. Hammers, and bats are too heavy/slow. https://www.bussecollector.com/gallery/ganza/bladeoganzaaaa2010/content/images/large/Gladius10.jpg View Quote That would probably be my best bet |
Hatchet is probably the most useful. I can also run straight in to gun fire with it raised in the air like my ancestors at the red river rebellion.

You would need more than just you in order to make this kind of deal fly. |
