I’m not arguing with anyone’s preference or saying I know anything... Just took several holiday guests for hot laps. The PDK is the most incredible part of the 911. I feel like it knows what I want before I know I want it. In sports plus it redlines every up shift if you’re on it. It downshifts exactly when it should. I may be the weird one, don’t see myself using paddles or manual shift ever. The PDK shifts the car the way I wish I could. |

One buddy has winter wheels and tires for his GT4 and R8. He dailies a Macan but he still likes to have fun in the winter. He sold his 599 last year and got a Turbo S. The Turbo S is his first non-manual - he's pretty happy with the PDK. He did ask the dealer about winter wheels and tires - They quoted him $9000.

They made a set of wheels for Porsche that look like an actual Porsche wheel, and had really good reviews. We saved a LOT of money. |

Was behind a 997.2 Carrera 4S this morning on a twisty country road. Such a good looking car. I love that any Porsche, from any era, is a gorgeous example of timeless design. I could barely keep up in my Audi and he wasn’t even trying

Yep. Nuts Nope. I don’t even have the tool to remove the wheels. I figure that, since there’s no spare anyway, if I get any kind of tire or wheel failure, it’s going to require a two truck regardless. ![]() We also decided not to get the extra set of winter wheels/tires for the 911, since we kept my 4wd SUV when I got the 911. So the 911 is my daily driver in the winter, EXCEPT for the few days when it’s really snowy or salty, and then I take the SUV. So as a result, it didn’t seem worth it to spend all the money on the winter wheels, and I have no need to ever take the wheels off myself. |

I'm selling the car! ) and be able to daily drive the thing like it was supposed to be. I'm probably going to sell the Audi and buy an old SUV that I don't care for, and use it for when the roads are crap. |

Word of caution for your first PDK test drive: Don't pull up to a stop sign on a hill, alone in the car for 5-10 minutes and you think...oh yeah, I read something about pulling on both paddles at the same time..what does that do again??? ugh, car starts to roll backwards when you take your foot off the gas to accelerate away from the sign and nothing happens but rev the engine (pull both paddles at the same time and you take it out of gear)....very embarrassing. New C8 Corvette uses a very similar DCT. I've not driven one, but read comparisons and they function basically the same and the Vette gets very good reviews for its DCT. I believe they used a PDK in their test mules and consider it the gold standard (as they should). |

I drove the PDK and totally loved it...and I'm a guy who's been driving MT most of his life and seeked out cars with a MT. I would describe it as an "manual transmission when you want it, otherwise its a freaking amazingly smart & intuitive automated manual when you don't". It is not a traditional automatic at all, read about how it works..two active clutches/shafts..hence the term "Dual Clutch Transmission" by other manufactures. Like DK-Prof and others have said, you can put it in manual mode and run it up and down in the gears yourself all you want...paddles or shifter, just no clutch pedal. The shifts are super fast, super smooth and I don't know what they have programmed into the controller, but its very very "aware" and made nothing but great shifts the times I was driving a number of the Caymans. But very good point about the emotions and engagement...without the clutch pedal you do miss that compared to a MT. Personal preference, been there, done that. PDK is objectively better than a MT and worlds better than a traditional slush box but there is nothing exciting or engaging about it. Dealers weren't negotiating when I bought my 987S, but then I did buy it on the spot after a test drive. On the first morning the 987's went on sale and PCNA expected it to be a "demo" car. It even had the "launch package" option spec. Only 1 other guy and his wife drove it before I could get the paperwork signed. The sales manager asked if that was my first Porsche. I said "yes" and he said it won't be my last. ...and he was right. Two years later I ordered a 997S and traded in my last E46 M3. Great car, great color -- "Cobalt Blue" -- the only year it was a standard extra cost color. Ordered it from a dealership in Ohio who couldn't wait for me to get home from a business trip to Atlanta because customers kept trying to buy it off their showroom floor. They trucked it down to Houston, Porsche comes off the truck, BMW goes on. Easy peasy. A few years back I had some major surgeries and climbing in and out of low slung sport cars was pretty uncomfortable, plus I just needed a little more practicality. So, I sold the Boxster and Carrera and ordered an optioned up Macan Turbo. I still have that car and it's still fun to surprise guys in Vipers with it. My brother has a '95 RX-7 and I let him drive it when he was in town house shopping. He called it "easy speed". |

Have a deposit down on a 992.2 GT3 RS and 718 GT4 RS but will likely pass on the GT4 RS if its not up to snuff in certain areas. Will likely add a 991.2 GT3 Touring to the mix as I don't like the hoods on the 992 GT3/touring (the RS will be bought solely as a tarmac rally car so looks don't matter). I have never paid ADM and wouldn't. Also a lot depends on your relationship with the dealer - generally, they know who the real buyers are - there are lots of tire kickers, particularly in relation to GT division cars. The GT division cars are some of the best drivers cars ever made and all GT cars (with the exception of one) have engines designed for motorsport in terms of materials, pumps etc right down to the dry sumps. Even the PDK gear box was developed for and from motorsport (specifically Le Mans). |

He’ll know what you’re talking about.
