US Navy, way back when. Mediteranean Sea, Troop Transport. Grandad: US Army Horse Cavalry (cant recall the unit name, he spoke of horses in CONUS and jeeps over there) Phillipine Islands WW II and so on all the way back to 1863 for both the USA and CSA. |

Grandfather on my Mothers side was a medic in WW I . was over there for two weeks before the whole thing came to an end. My Father served for 41 years in the National Guard with the 34th Inf. Division. Went to North Africa were the majority of thew unit was overrun by German armor and captured. He spent 3 years in a POW camp in Germany. Returned and served the rest of his time with different Companies in the 168th Inf of the 34th Inf. Div. He was intervied by Ollie North for the TV show War Stories with Oliver North-The Desert War and Lt.Col. Norths Book War Stories III. My Oldest Brother has been in service for over 35 years as a Helicopter Pilot on UH-1's and UH-60's. He served in Vietnam with the 167th AHC out of Chu Lai and was in the Guard when they sent his unit ,the 24 MED to Desert Sheild/Storm. My next oldest Brother served in the Navy flying S-3 Vikings off the USS America and the USS Independance untill he got his own Squadraon and then a posting at the Pentagon before he retired after 30 Years. Myself. From May 1990 - August 1981- Co B 1st BN 168th Inf Iowa Army National Guard August 1981- December 1983 - Co C 3rd Bn 187th Inf 101st Airborn Air Assault Febuary 1984- August 1985 - 47th USAAD Zelo Italy October 1985- November - 1986 HHC 1st Brigade,101st Airborne Ft Campbell,KY. A Co. 2nd Bn 327th Inf ,Then back to the 3rd Bn 187th Inf December 1986 to December 1987 - A Co 1st Bn 9th Inf. 2nd Inf Div Camp Liberty Bell Korea. The 1/9 later became the 1st bn 506th Inf while I was there. January 1988 - MArch 1989 - HHC 2nd BN 87th Inf. 10th Mountan Ft Drum NY April 1989 - Febuary 2003 Co B 1st Bn 168th Inf. 34th Inf. Div. I served over 23 years in the Infantry and if I could I would do so again. |

Yakima was f-ing cold-still. 89-91 2/502 Inf, 101st ABN, Ft. Campbell, KY and Gulf War. 91-93 1/12 Inf, 4th ID, Ft. Carson, CO and Somalia. Washington Army Guard 95-97 1/161 Inf, Moses lake, WA-left b/c I got hired by La Migra. |

awww here's my lil ol bio 1984 DEP 1885 june entered army BMT at fort dix NJ 1985 sep went to fort eustis Va for school 67T black hawk repairman 1985 dec fort lewis Wa 9th aviation battalion 1987 shipped to camp humpreys korea now in crew chief pos on UH 60 1988 ETS from army 1989 joined AFR as c-130 crew chief 1990 desert storm shield takes up my time for a whole 3 week deployment 1994 move to calif join AFR unit in california after move. 1994 now Kc-10 Crew chief 2A571 1995 get out due to unit moving to nor cal 2004 join AFR in utah 419 FW but due to hearing loss can only get supply job 2006 unit disbanded move to UT ang still serving. |
Well, after a 15 year absence, and a quick stint with BW during Hurrican Katrina, I can add one more unit to my list! HHB 103rd FA Brigade, Rhode Island National Guard 11/2006 - present Hooah!

| I don't think New York or Vermont was any colder while I was living there several years ago. The cold wind blew straight down the prairies and froze my ass off. Something else I remember was waking up to the noise of the B-52's taking off every morning-remember? All in all though, I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. Great bunch of guys-good memories. After surviving the winter in Amarillo, Germany was a cake walk. |

1990-1996 Army 101st ABN (AASLT) - 91B 5th Group - 18B Took quite a few trips here and there. Either hot and sandy desert, or hot and humid jungle. Panama was the greatest, Haiti was the nastiest, and FT. Campbell was home. |
