| General rum question. I have only had Capt Morgan ( hate spiced) and Bicardi. Been looking to try some sipping rum to go with my cigars and such. My question is. How similar is the flavor to whiskey. I ask because I got alcohol poisoning when I was teen off a scotch. Since then I really can't touch any whiskey, scotch, bourbon etc. |

I'm a fan of the Barbados rums and profile. That said, I second Zacapa 23. It's not my favorite but it's a decent entry level sipper imo. Plantation original dark really surprised me.

I'd recommend some Gragerious Grump as they drink fantastic and would pair well with a cigar |

Look no further than this Diplimatico Reserva Exclusiva. This is what I sip most often when I go with rum. The older aged Flora de Cana and Ron Abuelo, (12 yr or older) are really good too. |

Most rum has no similarities as far as flavor but there are a few that have a sweetness I think. Pyrat Reserve is the rum I love. I can't drink it because clear liquors make me mean. I don't remember being mean but yeah...I'm mean. So it is the beloved drink I cannot taste. It is both sweet and not. It is smooth as alcohol gets. Pyrat Reserve is the devil and the angel holding hands. |
