| What's the consensus on the very best rum you can find and buy in the US? Say, under $300, because there's always the limited stuff that gets silly. Seasoned rum dudes and dudettes - what's the best you can get? |

Rum is all over the place flavor wise by origin. I'm really fond of Barbados rum, Foursquare in particular. These drink like bourbons, most are cask or high proof.  Zacapa 23 is a decent balanced starter rum for sipping, imo. Still haven't tried Havana club or diplomatico. |

That was super sweet to me, like dessert in a glass. Moderately priced. I like it. Concur on Zacapa xo, lots of flavor,, but it isn't cheap. Just commenting on what I've had, plenty I haven't. |

| What is available in the 100 proof give or take a little range? I cant stand anything much below that, 70 proof stuff tastes like it should be put in a baby bottle! JK! kinda. When it comes to bourbon, my taste buds hover around 100 to 110 proof, 80 is just weak, 90 is better, but 100 or better is the mark. |
| I am going to suggest Richland Rum https://www.richlandrum.com. Produced in Richland Ga. (30min south of Ft. Benning). Won several awards. Really good and I like this better than most of the <10 year old rums previously discussed. If you can't find Richland then Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva Which seems to be able to picked up almost everywhere |
