It's tape! You'll kill yourself! Etc. Now that that's out of the way.
Scratch and dent sale Some of the best bang for the buck Japanese and euro swords out there, as rated by just about every review site out there. The dojo pro line of katanas has exceptional ratings. Their scratch and dents typically just mean surface blems. They don't sell anything nicked or would cause any kind of safety issues. All of these go fast. I've already got my order in, so you heathens have at it now. |

Are you happy, sad, or indifferent that you used post 18k for this?

Quoted: This is basically Cold Steel or worse quality? View Quote They are ranked much higher in quality than cold steel. Cold steel is generally regarded as bottom barrel. Ronin is the typical answer for "what should I go buy." Kinda like here, they typical response to "whats the best daily carry" and folks answering with Glock G19. Sure, you can find some niche forges that no shit will give you the highest quality out there... but it will cost you 4 digits for a sword. Ronin Katana's scratch and dent sale is "famous" in blade circles for crazy good value. Even their normal price is a crazy good bang for the buck. Cold steel is not in the same ballpark as these guys. eta - Link was posted above to sword buys guide. |

Would have been better if 18k went to Georgia losing to Bama. But not a big deal. It'll be another 40 years before georgia wins another football natty. |

Quoted: This is basically Cold Steel or worse quality? IMO that wakizashi looks like a great value. Saya looks to include a koiguchi, which is a rarity at that price point. |

I know zero about swords. Will this work in the zombie apocalypse or will they break.

What does one do with one of these swords beyond having it displayed on a mantle? What are cutting with it?

I have absolutely do not need one of these. I have zero experience with swords and would probably wind up hurting myself with it.
Which one should I buy? |

Quoted: This is basically Cold Steel or worse quality? View Quote If they did it right, this is the real deal. I may have to get one of these. I know a guy who can furnish it correctly. Ronin Elite Bare Blade With Bo Hi (groove) Ronin Elite katana have been traditionally forged and laminated in the soshu kitae tradition (seven panel steel). This school was developed by the legendary Japanese smith Masamune, and combines panels of hard, medium, and soft steels. The core of the blade is formed from softer, more malleable steel giving it exceptional flexibility. A layer of slightly harder steel is bonded to each side of the core to add support. The last layers are a very hard steel bonded to the top, bottom, and both sides of the core forming the ha (cutting edge) mune (back edge) and shinogi-ji (blade flats). This form of laminar construction provided for a sword that could be sharpened to a razor edge due to the hardened steed used for the ha, but was extremely resilient to battle damage due to its softer more flexible core. Blade lamination: Soshu Kitae seven panel steel Steel: 1095/1060/1045 Tempering: Differentially hardened (clayed) and water quenched Rockwell Hardness: 62 edge / 40 spine |

That $50 tanto looks tempting. I've spent more money on less functional blades.

Back in the great old days of the Amazon Clearance thread I ended up with a samurai sword. Supposedly of okay (better than Cold Steel). In true GD fashion I used it to extract revenge and regain honor against a banana tree.
I believe I posted pics. Most fun I ever had doing yardwork and the neighborhood suspicions was worth the purchase price. |

It's great, for what I paid for it and it's sharp, but I think it's probably dubious quality for choping/killing stuff on the regular. Looks pretty cool, though. |

Good opportunity to get a real battle ready melee weapon guys.
I have a decent katana and would like to pick up a long sword. This one is very nice for the price. 1075 spring steel https://roninkatana.com/scratch-and-dent-two-handed-medieval-longsword-model-2/ |

View Quote comparing it to the handgun spectrum... Garbage to high dollar hipoint, keltek, ruger, S&W, glock, sig, h&K However... Youre not going to beat glock from a reliability and " everyday workhorse" point of view. I think in the above spectrum, ronin katan is most comparable to a glock. Lots of youtube videos of people trying to break them. When it takes literally hammering the sword with a hammer or steal bar to finally break it... yeah, I'm sold. On review sites, at the normal price point, the dojo pros are "must buys." Same with their euro swords. But, its kinda late in the day already. So might not be many options left. From prior years, they sell out in a day or two. I picked up a dojo pro acouple years ago. It was crazy to me the quality of the sword at the pricepoint I got it. So I was specifically on the watch this year for the S&D sale. |
