Back in the great old days of the Amazon Clearance thread I ended up with a samurai sword.  Supposedly of okay (better than Cold Steel).  In true GD fashion I used it to extract revenge and regain honor against a banana tree.

I believe I posted pics.

Most fun I ever had doing yardwork and the neighborhood suspicions was worth the purchase price.

#Mee Too.    I have slayed many coconuts and palms.  It’s still my favorite yard impliment.

It’s HHHEEEEEEEEEeeeerrrrree!

Only damage I can see are a couple of tiny nicks in the edge about an inch outboard of the tsuka. Hardly noticeable, but it will grab a cloth when cleaning off the wax.

What do people who buy swords do with them?

Is chopping watermelons in half for the neighborhood kids that much fun?

I've never bought a sword , but somehow in typical ARF fashion I decided it was time to get one. No idea what I will do with it other than hang it on the wall , but I always wanted one and was not willing to pay thousands for originals.

I know zero about swords.  Will this work in the zombie apocalypse or will they break.

The website says they are good for "light cutting"

Usually with the zombie you need to kill the brain or head.

Idk if cutting through a skull or spine qualifies as light.

I'm sure there are maybe some youtube tests of these blades.

The "Tactical Product" on the mat under the knife really ties the picture together.

I'm trying hard to justify the $50 tanto that says it's still in stock.

Really trying.

It depends on the model. There is like a intro line or something thats just "light cutting". Pretty much everything else is heavy duty beatings. Hundreds of abuse videos on the tubes of these swords. Any of the dojopros or euro swords are heavy duty abuse.

I picked up an elite bare blade (shirasaya) with a bo-hi.

Its not quite the blade the Hanwei makes but it's damn nice for $300.  The defect is in  the shape of the blade near the Yokotoe and Kissaki and the Boshi line.  The blade is slightly fat in this area and the top profile is asymmetrical.

Most people would never notice, and it has zero effect on performance, it's just "sloppy" as far as build goes.  I saw zero damage on anything, and since they are selling so many of these I think it's a manufacturing problem.

I won't get a chance to cut a mat with it until spring, I like the balance.  It's light and I was surprised when I put it through the motions, a shirasaya is not appropriate for cutting practice, so I my end up building a proper sword out of it.   Ronin sells the hardware to do it.

DKProf isn't going to slum here.  He drives Porsches, for Pete's sake.  All us know-nothing peasants with our Com-bloc hacked-out blades don't interest Gentlemen. (spits)
