With much strange going on in this country, started buying some shelf stable meats (spam) that last a few years. Had to test cook a few. Who knew they were really tasty with breakfast? ... and hell, I didn’t know they were making them in flavors like hickory.
Had a Hormel canned breakfast hash the other day, that was good too. What else am I missing fella’s? |

Spam is probably my favorite sandwich meat. I really do not like it cooked.

Wolf brand Chili, canned Tamales, probably a few more that I can't currently recall.

I like spam sliced about 3/8" thick and fried in a skillet nice and slow until it has a nice crust.

I have several cans of spam in the pantry I got when the grocery store had them discounted. I should break one open.
Also. Corned beef hash was a breakfast staple growing up. Still is. |

Low sodium Spam is my favorite. Just add your favorite hot sauce.

I love Spam any old way I've tried it. I cut big slices and grill it. Good right out of the can, too.
My cholesterol hovers below 300, so I don't tell my Doctor. |

Only seen the regular type here
Saw another thread on this a few days ago so may ask a couple of US based mates so ship a can or two of the flavoured types over the pond to freedom... Apart from Spam - I also like one of the UK made similarities - we used to have it in the ration packs - called BACON GRILL A lot like Spam in looks, but more bacon flavoured (the clue really is in the name) |

Cube up a can of spam, brown it in a sauce pan. Add pork and beans, and heat thoroughly. You are welcome. One pan meal, cheap and filling.

I must admit to being partial to chorizo Spam. The only place I can find it is at an Asian market about 30 miles away. So, I stock up when I'm there.

Spam is the best thing ever to be put fried rice. That incredible spam flavor permeates all the other ingredients and it is good stuff.

Honestly Spam is the best breakfast meat. Especially the bacon version. Not the healthiest breakfast meat however.

Spam gets a bad rap but read the ingredients in Spam then read the ingredients in name brand hotdogs or bologna.
It's not a regular staple but once and month I'll eat a can, some for breakfast the rest on a sandwich. Peppered and fried Spam, velveeta, and Duke's Mayo on white bread. |

Fried Spam is good, but deep fried spam is even better.

Spam is good camping food but it otherwise sucks, even in different flavors.

Probably haven't eaten Spam in 30 years. Will have to check some out next grocery trip.
That canned corned beef hash though, it's been a constant through my whole life. My usual method is scrape that 'dog food' out of the can, smash it flat in a skillet and let it go. Once it gets a crispy bottom, I'll drop a couple raw eggs on top and cover it till the eggs are something like over easy. Usually just eat it right out of the skillet, hot sauce and lots of fresh ground pepper. |

Spam was unobtanium at one point during the China flu panic. Is it widely available now or has the post-election panic affected it again?
