Shinola makes them.  Quartz with a screw down stem, 30atm rating, and an AR coated domed sapphire crystal.  42mm case.  I love the lighter blue tone on the bezel between 12 and 3 and the fact that the bezel is lumed is a bonus.  I like big easy markers and not a lot of clutter.  A classic retro look, but with a no BS water rating.  I need to get it on a NATO strap, and from what I understand the lugs have 2 sets of holes.

OMG!!!! You wear a $6000 watch hunting?!?!?!?!? Damn....will you adopt me ?
Honest question for all of you watch afficionados. If you're a person that works with their hands and can be rough on your watches, how do you get over the fear of wearing an expensive watch when you work? I've got beaters and fancy watches, ranging from $25 to $1000, but I'd love to wear some of my midrange watches but am truly weary of the damage I could do. I'm not rich or have a six-figure income, live week to week, so replacement of a damaged watch isn't good for me to deal with.

Speedy Pro.  Never polished the hesalite in nearly 10 years owning it... I've been liking the worn-in look.

I really like this watch.  I might have to spring for the automatic version someday.

I do yard/ranch work, home building, auto repair... that sort of labor in Rolex, Omega, and  Panerai watches. I draw the line at truly filthy (drywall, tile, concrete) or destructive work. I have one digital watch that I call my storm watch (Meaning I wear it when during hurricanes, because it has a light). Right now, if I know I’m off to do that type of stuff I wear it. I would be wearing a Marathon SAR, but it is out being serviced.

My point being, that sport luxury watches are tougher than you think.

The last time I had my Omega Speedmaster Pro serviced the watchmaker offered to trade me a new production model for it, even up. A watch with dings, scrapes, and fading, from years worth of hard wearing. Honest patina is apparently in.

All that said, buy a good watch and a knock around watch. Not because the good watch can’t take the abuse, but because you want to keep it looking nice. A nasty beat up Rolex doesn’t belong with a suit any more than a G-Shock.

I don’t begrudge a working man a nice watch, regardless of his income. I would however suggest you try to make a wise financial choice.

First mechanical watch.
Already swapped out the band.

Also picked up a Seiko SNK807 while I was at it.

It's hard to tell from the picture but the face is blue.

Any of you guys with Omega, Rolex, etc, and Panerai-  how do you feel about your  Panerai?  I was really close to starting search for PAM 25, but the last day or so of internet research turned me off.

I have the base one.  It's not an everyday watch for me.  I will wear mine once every couple months on weekends.  It is the one watch I own, that does get looks in public.

Just scored this. Heavier than I expected but it's beautiful.

Maratac SR35

Maybe it will look good with my SR25...
