I promised a photo of something other than wine (okay there is a Port).

I had to dust off some of these bottles so it didn't look so crummy.

Here's the home bar, sans wine.

Not much top shelf here at the moment.  I drank it all last summer and fall.

Did you like Laddie?

What's the first CONUS drink gonna be?

I honestly bought it because of the bottle but I was a bit underwhelmed by it. I have read that it opens up with some air in the bottle, so time will tell.

The classic laddie isn't my favorite but their old discontinued multi vintage organic and the octomore are tops. You gotta expect the sour lactic notes, but it can be super pleasing to piece apart.

Random sale day at the local store

Also- stay away from this Brenne stuff. It is beyond weird. This makers 46 might just turn my opinion of bourbon...

One of the BEST bourbons ever made. Congrats on finding it for a pour. And that's the 2016 release, which is HIGHLY regarded.

A little score last night and this morning.  Just became available in the state, we grabbed a bottle yesterday and tried it, liked it, grabbed two more from a different store this morning.  It's good, smooth, light/easy drinking and reminiscent of a Weller.  (though, not the same)

PS - Damn, I need a new desk...

I was out of Weller so I made the rounds last week and managed to score a couple bottles and picked up a couple other Bourbons.

Visiting my mom this weekend a couple states away and hit a small town liquor store. They had some Weller at a decent price so I picked up a couple more bottles.

So...

Uh...

I have something many people have never seen before...

But I'm scared you'll all hate me...

Well, here goes...

What's in the box??

Guess yet?

Ermagerd!! A whole case!!

Dream, fulfilled!

Through some unbelievable magical deal with the devil or something, PA has managed to acquire a supply of Weller that will be released periodically all throughout the year.  (per the BT rep)  I've seen two releases of it so far, with fair quantities available.  They've got Weller 12 yr coming soon, as well.  These are good times in the land of the FUDD!!

Great weekend! Just spent last Thursday/Friday and Saturday hitting the Bourbon Trail. Stayed in downtown Louisville at the Seelbach Hotel. Hit Bulleit (Stitzel-Weller) Thursday. Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve on Friday. Jim Beam, Makers Mark and Heaven Hill on Saturday. Great dinner in Bardstown at The Rick House.

Sunday at the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot.

The pic is the stash I came home with. Most of the MM Mint Julep and Bourbon Cream are for friends. Had no intention of bringing back so much Woodford Reserve as most of my tastes come from the Buffalo Trace line.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but I’ve seen a couple of these little guys in some different pictures. Where would you get something like that?

Attachment Attached File

I don’t have anything fancy, but Here is my “humble entry”, can’t afford all the “fancy” stuff I see some of you guys posting. The Blantons is the most expensive thing I’ve got, but I wouldn’t mind picking up some of the “fancy stuff” along the way. I’ve never been a huge drinker so stuff lasts me a long time, I just enjoy trying different things that people recommend. Not everything but a neat picture.

Can't recall where I got the green one or the Michelob bottle.

But I do remember I found the vodka bottle in my great grad father's she'd down the river cabin and was able to keep it.

My depleted liquor cabinet is unworthy of a pic. I need to restock.

I’m down to a small bottle of suntory, some Makers, and Woodford reserve. I believe that for perhaps the first time in a decade, I have no single malt scotch (from Scotland) and no Irish whiskey of any kind. Sad.

Nothing wrong with what you have, some tasty stuff there.
How's the Templeton Rye? I've had my eye on it.

Its pretty good, especially if you like Rye. *edit* I just had some of the Blantons (still my favorite, at this point), followed up by some Templeton. Templeton has a nice smooth flavor with that after burn you get with the rye, but not too bad. In my opinion. It’s not as complex and flavorful as the Blantons but not bad.*/edit*

I’d like to pick up something new to try. Out of the following which one should be my next to pick up?

-Buffalo Trace (this was my original “next”, but willing to try something else first)
-Four Roses Small batch
-Woodford Reaserve
-Bulleit
-Elijah Craig 12y
-Makers 46 (Is it better then the standard makers?)

Get the 10 Year Old Bulleit or the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked.  Both of them would be a step up from what’s on your list and only cost a little more.

Buffalo Trace is excellent for the price, but both of those will have a much more refined and complex flavor profile for just a little more cash.  They’re both excellent entry points into the world of higher end bourbons.

All I have is SR. I'm headed for the Kansas border

what didnt you like about the kavalan? I think it does taste "young" but their line up has a diversity to it few others do. Glenmorangie is the only other distiller that comes to mind
