Russia really overestimated their Specops ability to move in and seize power in Kiev. Remember all the Russian troops early on that didn't even know they were in Ukraine? Russia thought they could seize power then use their trash troops to put down the riots. That's all they needed they thought. When western weapons and Ukraines will to fight messed that up, they didn't really have a plan. Downhill from there. |

I would concede that Russians may be self-censoring what they say in writing. That said, plenty of what is being said is (in theory) illegal in Russia right now, and it’s still being said. But no one that I’ve read is willing to say in public that the war was unjustified. |
