Do NOT raise the age limit on firearms purchases from 18 to 21. Do NOT support a bump stock ban. From the article:
"The calculus Senate Republicans must make to retain their majority is to decide whether to anger the most active members of their conservative base who oppose gun restrictions, or to counter the popular support for an assault weapons ban?" Funny, I thought their focus should be in accordance with their oath of office. (see below) Title XLVI CRIMES Chapter 876 CRIMINAL ANARCHY, TREASON, AND OTHER CRIMES AGAINST PUBLIC ORDER View Entire Chapter 876.05 Public employees; oath.— (1) All persons who now or hereafter are employed by or who now or hereafter are on the payroll of the state, or any of its departments and agencies, subdivisions, counties, cities, school boards and districts of the free public school system of the state or counties, or institutions of higher learning, except candidates for federal office, are required to take an oath before any person duly authorized to take acknowledgments of instruments for public record in the state in the following form: I, (name) , a citizen of the State of Florida and of the United States of America, and being employed by or an officer of and a recipient of public funds as such employee or officer, do hereby solemnly swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Florida. (2) Said oath shall be filed with the records of the governing official or employing governmental agency prior to the approval of any voucher for the payment of salary, expenses, or other compensation. I emailed both Drake and Gainer on this. |

This bill will be DOA.
Possession of semiautomatic rifles or large cap mags.....felony. No sale of said rifles or mags.....felony. Never gonna happen. |
|
Committee Meeting starts at 2:30pm.... gonna try and make it to speak against it.

What is interesting about that article is again the setup of the NRA as the bad guy. The press is now running with this as if it's a fait accompli.
Bizarrely, it reminds me a little bit of gamergate, and how that movement is continually referred to as a misogynistic hate group. The press is very good at getting labels to stick. |

I'm confused - didn't they just vote down a bill to ban AR15's?

If people were demanding gun control like the anti-gunners claim the gun show should have seen a decline, not a record number surge. http://www.wtsp.com/article/news/local/florida-gun-show-sees-record-number-of-attendees-amid-gun-control-debate/67-523267641 |

In for results.
I'm not a believer, however, "God speed to our friends in Florida and long live this great Republic." I'll keep good thoughts for all of you and those in other places facing the same challenges. |

So they're trying to do a semi-auto ban every week until it passes?
|
|
|
Did I read that right?
This bill is for confiscation of currently owned firearms, and those who don't comply will be felons? |
|
This they can find time for, but Open Carry and Campus Carry?
Nooooooo. Feckless shitheads. |

Looks like this a vote in the rules committee on the amendments to the bill. I emailed every state senator on the rules committee a copy of their oath of office as well as the 2nd amendment. I know it probably won't do any good, they know they violated their oaths long ago. I was kind of just hoping to remind them the people are watching.

We are working hard behind the scenes...
We have good people with deep inside contacts working on the house and senate... Any aggressive bill as described above will be DOA ~ defeated... We did this fight back in 1997 against Dumbocrap ~ State Rep Debbie Wasserman Clown Schultz here in Broward County when she was running around with then Scumbag Sheriff Ken Jenne running BSO ~ Thankfully he headed up as a Convicted Felon Jackass ~ We have many great pro gun people here in Florida ~ Many qualified solid groups to counter the issues.... |

"An internal poll conducted last week by a political committee for Senate Republicans found that two-thirds of all Florida voters, including a majority of gun owners, support an assault weapons ban."
What poll? Who did they ask? Will they publish the methodology? I find this "poll" VERY hard to believe. |

Amendment 772096 makes the Dept of Ag transfer 10% of all fees from CCW permits be spent on repaying Trauma Centers for the medical costs of caring for patients of "Mass Shootings". The term "mass shooting" means an incident in which four or more people are killed or injured by firearms in one or more locations in close proximity.
Amendment 411458 is the Assault Weapons Ban. Amendment 812202 makes possession of a Bump Stock a Felony. Amendment 697008 makes a requirement to have a safe, trigger lock, etc... basically you cannot keep a gun unlocked or loaded in your home. Amendment 197998 makes registration legal in Florida. Amendment 504798 makes universal background checks and ends private sales. |

Since the Republicans hold a decent margin in the Senate what are the chances an anti-gun Democrat gets to push his amendment through in a committee meeting? They only way that should happen is if the Republican leadership allows it. The FL GOP right now is in a tail spin. This is an election year and the GOP doesn't have a lot of love in the urban areas. My personal belief is that enough Turncoats can side with he Democrats. The downside in FL is Governor Scott will sign anything they send him. Fucking zealots.

I wrote to all my representatives and tried to explain that these laws are never going to help. I am a former resident of NJ, where they have some of the nations strongest gun control laws, and they do nothing to curb crime or gun violence. It only restricts those that are willing to follow laws. This is an emotional reaction to a tragedy, exactly the wrong time to enact legislation. I’m disgusted.

With the millions of libs moving here from new york and other states I don’t know how were going to keep Florida red. They destroyed the north east and now they will destroy florida. Add puerto rico to that mix. We’re fucked.

Rick Scott speaking now:
"Not going to have access to a gun if you are struggling with mental illness. You shouldn't have access to a gun and you are not. We are going to have a violent threat restraining order with a report system so they can make sure that you don't have access to a gun. There will be due process. So they can make sure you don't have access to a gun. You will not have access to a gun, there will be due process, you can get those guns back ,we'll make sure that doesn't happen. We will have background checks so we can make sure we know who has those guns" Yeah, I'm sure that due process is going to work out great |
