Someone allegedly got through airport security with a pill cutter that included a removable razor blade, and a glass breaker that didn't set off a detector, and then the airline may or may not have provided a 4mm x 5” sharpened wood shank for a coffee stir stick.
There’s something everywhere you look, if your paying attention. |

My favorite is tuff writer. It’s an older version they no longer make with a end that was pretty much a legal spike. Out of their current lineup I like the operator. Amazon has the Chinese version for a fraction of the cost.
Besides that one, I like the S&W models with the flat cap so I can put my thumb there in an Ice Pick grip. I have quite a few including Hinderers, Surefire and the Ti Bolt. IMHO buy one you won’t cry about if you lose.... like the Operator clone or S&W. The Heavy Metal (Steel, Copper etc) Hinderers are awesome but will cost you around $80 bucks. Ergos are more important to me than features (window breaker, whistle etc). |

I’ve seen a guy get pretty famous for a bike lock on a chain. More effective than a metal pen if you ask me.

Just get a SS Parker Jotter. It will make it through any checkpoint you encounter. Most of the tactical pens look too tactical.
Attached File The old USA made Jotters have brass thread inserts and are probably a bit sturdier than the current ones with plastic thread inserts. They can be picked up on eBay for about the same price as a new one. |

What I would like to find is a very dense and hard plastic ball, like made of Monadnock material.
Then weave that into a monkey fist. |
|
The old Zebra F-70whatever pen. I've been carrying the pen and pencil set ever since you guys told me about it a decade ago!

No. Unless I’m on a plane or a place that has metal detectors I’m carrying my Glock. I don’t recognize “Gun free zones”.
|
|
I dont carry a tactical pen per se.
I do have a titanium pen that can be used as a kuboton (spelling may be wrong). But I'd rather just pull a knife. |
|
I made it on a plane 4 times with a tactical pen in my laptop backpack. Just tossed it in along with my other pens and highlighters. Cant remember the brand but it has a whistle and fire starter on it. If you take the cap off and screw it on the other end it becomes longer and easier to use.

Tactical Pen for Self Defense | Jay Puts a Hole In Me With This Thing! | Nitecore NTP30 Review Basic premise is that you still need to train to fight. A pen is not a magic talisman. |

Just situational awareness. You can ALWAYS improvise some sort of weapon. Plus I'm fairly confident I can handle myself unarmed if it was absolutely necessary.

This work for you op? Sig includes it with the kilo 2400 range finder...

got it off amazon, mainly to avoid the nasty elevator buttons and electronic sign in pads in city buildings

Everything's a weapon if you're brave enough.
I always carry a pocket knife (I don't fly). |
|
I've been carrying a Victorinox Swiss Army hiker daily for about 28 years. Rarely a day goes by that I don't use it for something.

Zebra F-402
It's just a pen. Not designed to be tactical (so no reason for it to be banned), but it's a solid steel cylinder and comes to a sharp point. I'd put it up against any "tactical" pen. Plus it's cheaper and you can find it at Staples and Amazon. |
|
|
I carry a Fenix T5Ti, Everyman, and a Write in the Rain pen. Fenix is the best of the three for OPs use.
|
|
Get a sap or a coin sap.
Way more effective than some gay pen. |

I'll be darned, Zebra has upgraded the F-701 to ALL steel and it's now on sale for $6.12!

I fly weekly with a Comtech Stinger. Once you play around with it a bit you will understand how amazing it is as an impact weapon.
I leave mine in my pocket when I go through TSA Precheck magnetometers. I never attach it to my keys - it just lays flat in my pocket 24x7 when I'm on the road.

I was doing alot of site surveys for network equipment so I got a rotring drafting pencil, heavy helped me sketch layouts and most importantly I felt comfortable stabbing shit with it.

I carried my steel cane into the county courthouse for a week of jury duty. One whack from that and its coloring books for Christmas. The only thing the deputies at the metal detectors did was make sure it wasn't a sword cane.

can't CCW at my old job and the chance of being found out seemed higher than the chance of needing it. So carried a Microtech combat troodon OTF. glass breaker and 4.5" blade made it a hell of a knife. Not cheap but never felt unarmed with it.
New state and new job so I haven't started carrying it yet. Just a little folder with glass breaker (having used one to pull a guy out of a car accident I won't be without). Everything is a weapon. Look around, see what's handy. I'm guessing there's better stuff all around that would get the job done in a pinch. |

A friend gave me a Bic pen look a like. Basically an aluminum pen shaft with a practice arrow tip on it. And a gray Bic cap. It doesn't write, but looks the part very well.

I carry a tactical pen at work. It is Kepeak brand. And it came with ink refills as well. Has served my operator level well.
|
|
I just carry a Montblanc 146 or a Pilot E95s depending on how I feel.
I don't feel the need to have some type of "weapon" on my or at an arms reach 24/7. |
|
I bought a Surefire when they were 50% off. It just rides around in my truck attached to a notepad.
|
|
I will say that going to a pro baseball game, the security at the metal detector wouldn't let me go in with my tactical pen.
|
|
I carry anywhere there isn’t a metal detector, no matter what the signs say.
Beyond that, there are some decently made polymer knives that will work in a pinch and aren’t picked up by traditional means |
