Now that is way too cool!

If you can fly in, just land at the Quanah, Texas airport and we'll pick you up there.

It's only about 12 miles from my farm!

I can guaran-damn-tee you that you will have a blast!

If you need someone to fly with you, they're invited, too!

for now i need to prob. take my instructor on that long of a flight.  i do have my solo, and i am getting ready to get my private check ride and written out of the way.  but, it wouldnt hurt to bring a more expeiranced person with me if i do fly.  but all that is just a maybe.  all i need to know about the shoot is, Where(directions if i have to drive) , when, what i need to bring and time to be there etc.

Stay tuned to this post. If it gets moved to the Events and Meetings Forum, I'll leave a message on the General Discussion Board!

Look at all the previous posts to give you an idea of what you might need.

What would you bring with you if it were 1885 in Texas?

That should get you started!

No way! I would always ask your permission first.

Especially since your little thread has started such a great response and outpouring of LOVE for the Great State Of Texas!

And most especially (is that good English? Nah!) because you can torpedo the whole thread with the flick of your wrist!

Sure, I'll bring that stuff. No problem. Just hope the Delorian gets back from the repair shop before the TX-BRC at Rancho De Hun (I left my hover-board inside it).... Anyone have any Pizza tablets that enlarge to a full-52" pizza? I'm all out.

By the way-- where can you buy REAL MREs (the military version that comes in the dark plastic bag, with TP, candy, coffee, etc.). I have 1 left from ROTC (didn't want to eat it), and have a friend who would like to try various ones...

I always bought mine at gun shows, which may not be the very best place - think 'freshness.'

At the militaria shows you can pick up MREs from other countries. I've always heard the French MREs were very good!

At least that's what my German friends told me![:D]

You can also try the US Cavalry catalogues, etc.

This is just asinine.  I'm glad you admit a little further down the page that you've never been to Texas.  I apologize if someone else has already schooled you, I don't have time to read all 7 pages of this topic right now.

Texas DOES have thick forests.  The east part of the state is covered with timber, and has a thriving logging business.

Texas DOES have mountains, although they're on the west side of the state... which is about as far from the timber as the west coast is in the other direction.

Texas also has:

Large areas of swampland
Large areas of desert
Large areas of prairie
Large areas of coastal prairie
Large areas of plains

I know I'm forgetting something here, but Texas is not like what you've seen in old John Wayne movies.

Id say Montana. Lots of natural cover. Not too awful far from canada. Lots of animals to hunt. And they say that if you want to disappear then you should go to Montana. I live in an area where I appreciate LOTS of forest and mountains and rolling hills.

I don't have any problem with texas. Its just that if you are planning on hiding from the bad guys there then you should remember what happend to the Iraqis in desert storm. NOWHERE for them to hide. On the other hand someone in Montana would be able to hide very well. As bad as it may seem we should learn a lesson from the VC in vietnam. natural cover and hiding places = survival. Everything else is a mute point.

end of story.

As recently as May 3-4-5! Eight of us out there! A fine time was had by all!

There's as fine as dining out there as you can find in Dallas - 'Down Home Bakery' in nearby Chillicothe comes to mind. We ate there twice, by popular demand!

Here's one of our members shooting tracers from his M-4 at a target 300 yards away just a little after sunset:

And hitting the target (a four foot steel tank), as well!

Hi hound!

'Natural blonde'? Doesn't ring a bell with me, either.

I'm not even going to vote on which weekend, as any weekend is good for me.

But the others should take everyone's schedule into consideration when making the selection of which weekend!

ETC i think you should maybe look at the availible dates and post a new topic with a poll.  list the dates on the poll and everyone can then vote.  one w/ most votes wins for the weekend to have the shoot. or somthing like that.

So there's three guys hangin' steel in the City.  Mexican, Irishman and a blonde.  Each guy gets the same lunch every day.  Mexican guy gets a burrito, redhair gets corn beef and the blonde guy gets ham and cheese.  After a while they get so tired of eating the same thing they promise to jump off the building if they don't get something different to eat.  Next day they open their pails and the Mexican guy's got enchiladas, Irish guy's got hash but the blonde guy's got ham and cheese again.  That's it! the blonde guy says and takes a 20 story dive.  After the funeral his friends go up to his wife and ask why she wouldn't fix him something different.  She looks at them like they're crazy and says "He makes his own lunch."

seriously tho. were talking hiding out. surviving. texas is too open. why do you think the volunteers lost the battle of the alamo? they were surrounded, cut off and could be easily pounded by enemy artillary from long range. I don't mean to touch any vains with texans here, but those volunteers made a very bad tactical decision when they decided to hole up in that building. to the south is mexico with plenty of mexicans willing to join the enemy and win back texas, nevada ect ect. to the west is the ocean which is a fine landing place for enemy marines ect. and its to easy to get blocked in. Anyone whos grown of in the mountains like I have knows that if you choose a place with TRUE natural cover then "head for the hills" is akin to disappearing completely.

eric robert rudolf has evaded the feds for years now. He disappeared in the mountains of NC and although he is probably long gone now he used the natural cover to his advantage to "disappear" If hed been in texas then hed probably be in prison right now. or even dead.

This si not about state traditions and state pride. its about surviving. If the Sh^t really hit the fan then id be more than willing to leave the mountains here that could hide me so well to go to a place like montana where id cease to exist to the rest of the world.

maybe some of you harkan back to your ancestors dying bravely do defend texas or your associated home state. Goin out in a blaze of glory. I don't know about you but i don't wanna die trying. I want to make the ENEMY die trying. Unconventional warfare could be quite effective in a place like montanta or other spots in the north west. but uc warfare in texas.....? well ever seen that movie, Red dawn??? what a freakin joke.
