[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What stocks you buying? (Page 3 of 18)

My buy for UYG hit at $3.20/1000 which was my downward buy on today's bailout update. I have another in at $2.75/1000.
My test hedge buy for FAZ at $34/30 didn't happen. FAZ shot up to $49.28 from yesterday's close of $39.44 on market reaction to Geithner's bailout comments. I have another buy of TIE on for $7.10/400. Up, down, I don't care either way, except I don't have a hedge to the downside at present. |

I would not go long on banks. If the Obama government nationalize them you as an investor will not get a penny back. I think things are headed towards nationalization. However, TARP money appears to be a poison pill and some are trying to extricate themselves and pay it off in three years or less, or just handing back outright. If I was to buy a financial, it would only be one with low debt and no government cheese. Overall, I think the entire financial sector is toxic and very risky. There's better place to put money to work. |

There's better place to put money to work. Nationalization is theft. From what I understand Obama will allow private individuals into his plan. So what we have is Obama will give the banks to people within his circle without them paying a penny of it. Beware if your bank has been nationalized, your account isn't safe. All you need to do is look at banks that have been nationalized in other countries to truly understand the magnitude of it. I personally move my money out of the USA and into an insured oversea bank. Too many thieves in the US government for my liking. |

In good times, I ignore them, as there are usually better sectors to go long in anyway. In times like these, SKF has done very well for me on the short side. It's spendy to buy in any quantity, but it has it's rewards if you're on your toes. |

Damn, I had a cool trade today. I have been sitting on $500 waiting for another good buy in DGP for the last week or so. This morning it had a nice bump up so I thought 'darn, missed it!' but I noticed RBY, a Candian junior miner I have several thousand shares in was below where it's been for the last few weeks and not responding to the move in gold.
Cool! Perfect! I snapped up 400 shares at 1.25 and went to work. Checked on my stocks and RBY was halted, then made a big jump up to 1.50 on their awesome exploration report |

Picked up some more DIG on a limit today. IDK, for as long as I've been in oil I have this voice telling me it's going to be down for a good long time. OTOH, something else is telling me that it's wound like a spring waiting for a tripwire event to set it off on a short run. After selling off last year, I've rebuilt my positions to the point that I consider myself over exposed. ![]() |
| How'd y'all like the timing and subsequent ramp job coming from the Administrations housing solution, yesterday ? Anyone get caught short? Funny or not how S&P was approaching the magic 800 level then voilla float some BS rumor. Just like you don't fool with mother nature , spit in superman's face you don't try to manipulate the markets for long. |

Plunge protection team - nope, nothing like that out there. It shows they are paying attention Personally, I like the volatility. |

Out of DGP, should have sold yesterday, but oh well. DRYS is looking like a steal at $4.80, although it would be better if it was about a dollar cheaper. That sucker can really make huge moves to the upside as a commodity play. will it pattern as well now that they've dropped the dividend and announced their debt problems? drys, tbsi, and yrcw long term favorites of mine, they pattern well. I also love the moves fas and faz are making, but ya gotta watch'm close |

Sell 400 TIE Executed @ $8.15
Buy 1000 UYG Executed @ $3.05 Buy 100 HGT Executed @ $12.5499 Buy 100 ACM Executed @ $25.85 If the market runs up next week, I'll try to hedge a little with SDS and/or FAZ if they fall enough and sell some UYG. I took my 10% and sold TIE, but I'll try and pick it up again around $7ish and start buying POT when it hits mid 70's or MOS when on a pullback. I've had a great year so far! Jim |
| PG "Proctor & Gamble Co. They are stable enough yet volatile enough that you can make some money on them. What I mean is that after the market drops and PG has made their drop they can be counted on to be one of the first companies to recover. I worked for them for 11 years and watched their stock for more than 20 years now. |

Forgot about that. I was just remembering the 10% days and 20% dividend and that big double-bottom forming. My greed was eclipsing the present realities. Thanks |

The longs was pushing hard to prevent crossing the 52 weeks low and the result? Only a 3 points gain. It's over for them. March is going to be brutal. Short them until bankruptcy!
Once Obama nationalize the banks, depression here we come. Good times for shorts. Smoke shorts if you have it. |

Today the DJI has broken the Nov. 20 low.

Be careful today I'm covering shrots The market reversal around 2pm saved my ass today. I bought intc on Thursday with all my data pointing upward for Friday. Missed two chances to sell it around 12pm. Got hammered at 1pm. That was scary. Short the banks until Obama nationalize them. Then short America, be happy, and use the money to buy an Island fill with young ladies. Good times. |

Wow, did you read the gloom n' doom in GD this morning? Stuff like 'I am never putting a dollar in the market ever again'? The complete disgust, the hopelessness, the despair? Bot QQQQ march call Ha, I held on to this position even went it got down to .16 on Monday Still underwater, but it went from .16 and out of the money to 1.09 and in the money in 3 trading days. BTW, these guys called the turn last week and were perplexed why it didn't happen on Monday. You can listen to their radio shows saying so. Very impressive www.tfnn.com |

I sold 1350 shares of UYG for an 11% gain. I still have 3000 more which I will let run for a while.
I also bought a little FAZ and SDS. FAZ may not have been a good idea, but I am expecting a pullback tomorrow or Friday. If UYG pulls back to $2.30 ish I'll buy more. There are big inflows into financials, so that may not happen. UYG is also getting ready to announce a dividend, probably for 10 cents. |
| loaded up on faz and bgz this morning. sold DIG and will buy DUG soon. sold 1/2 metal positions auy, sa, paas, gss, gld. FXE looks over done here, it has been a good indictor of general market direction over the last 9 months look for that to continue. rally looks tired. |

I'm riding stops on the metals and DIG, but otherwise not selling unless they trip. The dollar took a big hit this week and that tends to push money into metals and oil. We'll see how that plays out. <shrug> |

Personally don't think the dollar will weaken as much as the gold freaks think but I'm still looking bullish on commoditiesl(Scooped up some SLW). a small bounce here wouldn't come as a suprise, but the week chart of the $ index has a nasty looking M setup(murder), it needs to show strength soon |
