I used to view ex-President Carter and a somewhat well-intentioned but foolish old man.
Now, I realize that he is truly a despicable human being.
He basically pointed to ALL the thing that tons of liberals did during the Bush years (calling him a criminal, calling him a liar, comparing him to Hitler, calling him a nazi, comparing him to a chimp, etc.) - and NOW suddenly feels the need to tell us that such language is completely unacceptable towards a sitting President (even though he never mentioned the problem when it was Bush in the crosshairs).
That shows an astonishing level of hypocrisy and lies, because he claimed that we've NEVER seen such language and accusations before.
That's pretty low and underhanded all right, but I guess it's politics as usual. Of course you lie and complain about what your opponents are doing, and you play the victim and whine when your opponents do the exact same thing you used to. That's the game, and I understand that.
But to take it the one step futher - and to essentially accuse anyone that used such language against Obama as being RACIST - that is just completely over the line, and it boggles the mind. This kind of shit is what is going to set race relations BACK decades in the U.S. Obama getting elected was potentially great for race relations whenit demonstrated that middle America - like Iowa - voted strongly for a black(ish) man for POTUS, and that aspect of it could have helped to build some bridges - but the shameless antics of people like Carter and his ilk, just using Obama's race as a way of attacking anyone that disagrees, is really harmful, and is incredibly offensive.
Shame on you, Mr. Carter. You are a reprehensible human being, and you disgust me.
