[ARCHIVED THREAD] - The Strange Origin of the Ouija Board (Page 8 of 10)

Quoted: Maybe not one, but possibly with the help of a legion of them which would be several thousand even or Satan himself as an ally. Someone like Stalin would in fact merit his attention for about fifty million reasons and the suffering on a scale that has never been repeated up to this very day. These were no rookie numbers for that particular evil entity, the leader of the kingdom of darkness as he is. No one is asking you to believe. That's why I don't really bother and why I asked about particular questions about worldview...That tells me all I need to know. If I am 180 degrees opposite than a position or belief, then I am moving even farther away as we go and so is the other person. Waste of time....Move along. |

Someone like Stalin would in fact merit his attention for about fifty million reasons and the suffering on a scale that has never been repeated up to this very day. These were no rookie numbers for that particular evil entity, the leader of the kingdom of darkness as he is. No one is asking you to believe. You are asking me to believe in an actionable way if you think humans are less responsible for their own actions because of the influence of an unprovable entity. Should this lessening of responsibility result in less punishment in a court of law? Why not? If someone comes under attack from a supernatural entity and are made to do something they wouldn't have ordinarily done, like, say, murder their children... why would we punish them? They were overpowered and a victim themselves, right? |
|
Quoted: Haha, and of course you see the irony, given the wink smiley. Does that never bother you in any real sense? I'm willing to be shown objective proof and be proven wrong. The supernatural position holds a belief set that can't be disproved because it doesn't rely on objective proof in the first place. |

Quoted: Wiccans tend to be the butt of jokes in the occult world, however...occultists in general are kinda on par with star trek nerds, so...it's more of a passive aggressive "sneering" ![]() Speed Quoted: Quoted: Wiccans are just dungeons and dragons Karens. ![]() Speed I wouldn’t be so sure.......on either account. There are a lot of well respected Wiccans in the occult world, and there are a lot of occultists that live normal everyday lives in which most people would never suspect who they are and what they do. As a matter of necessity.....TRUE occultists will be some of the most stable people you’ll ever meet. |

A lot of people believe that ouija boards can cause demonic presence to rise to unsafe levels. I don't really know but I don't think I'll ever mess with one just in case. I do love Ouija board stories though so in! Attached File |
|
Quoted: Ouija boards are dangerous. Don't believe the people who scoff at their power. I have known too many people in my life who have had too many negative experiences. There are entities that use it as a conduit into people's lives. Most of the time these encounters result in nothing good. Believe it or not; I don't care. It's not a toy.

Quoted: How much would it cost to start treating our water supply with zyprexa? Between this thread and the alphabet people screaming in the streets, I think it'd be money well spent I'd use something other than Zyprexa. Abilify maybe. Zyprexa makes you gain weight at a ridiculous pace. |
|
Quoted: If you're willing I know a foundation willing to pay you or ANYBODY the sum of ONE MILLION DOLLARS cash money if they can prove anything supernatural. Anything. The bounty has been there +20 years and plenty have failed. I think it was the Amazing Randy that put up that offer, and it has yet to be collected. He loves debunking the nonsense that people believe in and put forward as supernatural. |
|
Quoted: So? Quoted: Quoted: Our friend Andy has been here for quite some time now. So? His views are likely not to change any time soon and I have seen a few around here that may be a little harder in their beliefs about non beliefs than he is. Someone on this board one time stated that if there is something that someone does not believe in then fine. Most of us know that we are wasting our time if we keep continually addressing an issue that we fully do not believe in. I believe that it is a revolving door at best, and as you say makes a person more steadfast in something that is believed or not believed as ever a person desires. If a person believes that only empirical evidence will get it for them is fine with me. The Bible says that without faith, or the hope for things, which are unseen at the present, then it is impossible to please God. Some could call this a cop out too and i get it. But, the Bible also clearly states that God has shown everyone His existence, because of the creation itself, because the chances of it randomly occurring are so slim that it would be statistically irrelevant to even try. Therefore, the Bible further states that in the end, they, or the unbeliever is without excuse, and has become an enemy of God and eternally so after the time of physical death. And even so if they wave the mantle of the empirical torch of the scientific method high as for their reasonings for their beliefs, or non beliefs in this case, then it will come to no avail, as per any other reasoning or excuses. The Bible says in judgment this or any other excuse will be considered a fail and then condemnation will follow shortly after. This is how it reads, and I believe it, but it upsets people all the same and i do quite understand for obvious reasons. |

Quoted: You are asking me to believe in an actionable way if you think humans are less responsible for their own actions because of the influence of an unprovable entity. Should this lessening of responsibility result in less punishment in a court of law? Why not? If someone comes under attack from a supernatural entity and are made to do something they wouldn't have ordinarily done, like, say, murder their children... why would we punish them? They were overpowered and a victim themselves, right? I think you're mistaking this conversation for something else, based on your frame, "You are asking me to believe in an actionable way..." Suggesting that things may exist outside of your worldview does not require you to believe anything specific with conviction, especially not in a legally actionable way. Human beliefs do not have to reside at the extreme disbelief and extreme certainty ends of the spectrum. This is the fundamental difference between agnosticism and atheism. "Not guilty by reason of insanity" is already an accepted court defense for better or worse. I'm not super-thrilled about it either; it may affect your moral judgment about a person, but it's irrelevant to their danger to others. The difference between that and "not guilty by reason of demonic possession" is immaterial to the question of guilt or punishment and opens no new doors for new legal outcomes. It would be pointless to legitimize in a courtroom setting. Besides, it'd be a lot harder to substantiate to a jury in any particular case anyway, unless the jury saw the defendant dancing on the ceiling: ![]() Dancing On The Ceiling This isn't a matter of left-wingers trying to paint the perpetrator as a victim for lesser punishment. In Stalin's case, the matter is irrelevant to what should be done with him. The guy killed tens if millions of people. Whether or not he was a victim of anything, he did it, and he liked it. Screw him. The suggestion that Stalin could have been demonically influenced in his worldview isn't about a legal question of culpability. It's not a scientific question either, because it is not falsifiable. It's about a philosophical and theological question of contributing factors that could theoretically help someone along their way to evil, completely outside of legally acceptable evidence. For analogy, even learning for a fact that many child molesters were themselves molested should not aid their court defense, but it's still useful information for understanding their psychology and identifying who to maybe keep an eye on around children in the future. |

Quoted: Que? Wicca is an offshoot of gardarian witchcraft...that isn't to say that everyone who practices that is somehow stupid, or "less than", I'm just making an observation. Quoted: I'm willing to be shown objective proof and be proven wrong. The supernatural position holds a belief set that can't be disproved because it doesn't rely on objective proof in the first place. What constitutes proof? There are already phenomena that have not been scientifically explained away. From my understanding, the "Our Lady of Akita" events fall into that category. If you can direct me to a scientifically conclusive, non-strainingly-speculative naturalistic explanation of the physical phenomena manifested there, I would much appreciate it. It's just one example, but that's one that I'd personally like to see disproven. From what I see, many claims of the supernatural are specious and easily debunked with at least some degree of confidence. However, when we can't debunk something, we shrug our shoulders, say, "Huh, that's weird," and move on, assuming someone smarter will debunk it later, eventually. We never treat anything as proof, because all we know is that we can't explain it, and we continue on with the same confidence that a paranormal explanation is axiomatically impossible. |

You said it better than I could, but that's basically the bottom line. These entities don't regard us as any higher than gum on the bottom of someone's shoe, yet people think that somehow "science" is going to require empirical proof of their existence in order for it to be validated. Spirits live by the concept of "will not comply" just like some gun owners. |

But one of them telepathically pestered you into a romantic attraction to someone you previously couldn't stand because some hoodoo lady said so? "No regard" is incorrect. "Vile hatred for" is correct. If I stated otherwise that was a screw up on my part. They very definitely despise us and want to destroy us. I'd have to look back at my posts and see if I posted that they had no regard for us. If I did I meant it in the sense that they have no love or compassion for us. |

Understand that Satan or his minions never have a good day. They want you dead and everything destroyed here on planet Earth in order to scoff at God and His creation among themselves. This is why they would if they could, even though they full well know their final destinations which is in hell. Yet, they are under the delusion of which periodically makes them believe that they can win. It would not surprise me either if some of them have been temporarily institutionalized there in hell for some purpose and then loosed again. They would fit the definition of being criminally insane if they were human. Did I mention that they want you and me dead like yesterday? There is no appeasing entities as such as these. Ever. The good fight of faith is much better than attempting to ally with these which ultimately carries a death sentence for both man and spiritual being alike. The old saying about playing with fire immediately comes to mind. |

I've been a Christian since I was 7 but I'm not terribly religious. I am more in the camp of people who believe in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ first. Then a church affiliation second. I am always leery about the "Christian," who always spouts off about their particular church organization much more than about their relationship with Christ sometimes not even hardly at all. I say immediately become skeptical of these. |
