[ARCHIVED THREAD] - The Strange Origin of the Ouija Board (Page 7 of 10)

Quoted: Ouija boards are dangerous. Don't believe the people who scoff at their power. I have known too many people in my life who have had too many negative experiences. There are entities that use it as a conduit into people's lives. Most of the time these encounters result in nothing good. Believe it or not; I don't care. It's not a toy. It's true. I messed with one at my sister's party in 1979. It told her she was going to marry Leif Garrett. I mean, it was me pushing it to tell her that, but she was changed forever. Cursed, she is. Didn't marry Leif Garrett, btw. |

Quoted: Wow, it's almost like coincidences exist Quoted: Quoted: I remember being told by a friend that he and some friends held a Ouija board session one night. One girl asked when she would die and the entity spelled out "tomorrow." Of course they all laughed. She was hit by a car and killed while out jogging the next day. The friend who told me the story almost broke down in tears telling me about it. I do not think for a minute he was messing with me. Wow, it's almost like coincidences exist And they are meaningless without some background. How many kids mess with ouija board every day. How many ask when one of them will die? How many generate the answer “tomorrow?” How many remember all the time the prediction was WRONG? There are more than 8 billion people in the world doing people stuff all the dang time. Not saying that explains everything, but really big numbers generate wildly bizarre sequences of events when you look at them in isolation. |

Imagine the poor lady that has to silk-screen that shit at the Parker Brothers factory. You know how many dark avenues she's opened unwittingly? Probably has like 9th order hellbeasts running around the breakroom, and disembodied heads of former Russian tyrants floating above the fulfillment line. |

Wow, it's almost like coincidences exist Coincidences could be just a particular state of mind proceeding from past individual experiences. The normal basically healthy human brain remembers virtually everything even if it conveys things to any certain person in a subliminal way only. So therefore, one man's determination about an episode he or she deems as coincidental, may not be shared with another, individually, or corporately, because of education, personal knowledge of a thing, different mindsets, or for some other reason in another person, who may see or witness things in a completely different way. It would therefore be scientifically inept to claim that any supernatural realm or realms do not exist. |

I agree that Ouija boards are mass produced plastic toys. I also think that someone could make their own with a sharpie and cardboard and it could be used to contact something demonic. It's not what you use, its the belief and intent that makes them dangerous. Just my personal opinion, not everything is "checkmate, atheists." No one's mind will be changed on an internet forum. |

Very true.......in regards to some things, intent is everything. |

The theory is, as you've hinted, that when someone uses the board, they "believe" it works in a lot of cases. Entities observing the person's actions use that belief to manifest by answering questions on the board. BTW, I do not believe anyone gets to actually communicate with a deceased human on a Ouija board. I believe beings that have never possessed a body and are thousands (if not millions) of years old come through masquerading as "harmless" spirits so as to deceive and destroy the user. There is pure evil in this universe, and certain entities have no qualms about destroying a person. You can call them demons, fallen angels, djinn or whatever term you want to use. I believe only a tiny part of the truth is known about their nature and origin. But I do believe they exist. Maybe the Earth was theirs until mankind came along and now they think they are fighting a war against human occupation. I'm throwing that out there because I just don't know. |

Maybe the Earth was theirs until mankind came along and now they think they are fighting a war against human occupation. I'm throwing that out there because I just don't know. I believe they are waging a war with humans because they feel like it is within their power to seal a human from being able to engage and join the redemptive power, and thus the eternal effects of salvation through the wonder working power of the blood of Jesus Christ. But according to the word of God these demonic entities are under a delusion to believe a lie, and do not have this sort of capability to steal a human away. The word of God says that these evil entities with their master "Satan" at their head come forth only to kill, steal, and to destroy, which in some cases throughout history have accomplished to a very great extent and degree. However, if God, is all knowing, all present, and also all powerful in the sense of always being, then this means that everyone and everything in His creation, and by that process of absolute power, then again as always, they and we must all take our marching orders, as it were, from the Creator and Him only, as He is reported to be a Sovereign over the entire creation forever. Unless God is not what He is purported by the Bible to be, or "I Am," and as to His exact role and dominance over the entire creation, not being the God to be forever sustained through Himself with no rival. I happen to believe this because of my own personal experiences, to be absolutely true and correct without error. Therefore, some hard heads like me needed to be shown the truth and then were, sometimes through a painful sort of process indeed mostly of my own choosing and others in some matters. I carnally, therefore, have no reason to believe Jesus is Lord otherwise, or that the supernatural realm actually exists. Sorry if some of our sentences become run-on after a fashion, but that's the way that it gets sometimes. |

This is true, any of those devices like a dark mirror, or spirit board or fortune telling cards are more charged with the persons creative energy if they make it themselves. |

No human contact in the manufacturing. Supposly they use dowsing rods in old cemeteries to locate newely made boards and they harvest them until they have enough to ship to stores. |

Quoted: @Sevensteps Go on... do tell I was at a cemetery in Tennessee around 1989 or so. It was around 2AM and my sister wanted to go play with the Ouija board ..So I said, "what the heck"... So myself, her, and her boyfriend and my now wife went to the cemetery and set it up on top of a grave. My sister asked it some random questions. We were all just barely touching it. She asked it was there someone there...It went to YES... Then she asked what was the name of the person were talking to...It spelled out MICHAEL COX...We kept asking each other "are pushing it" and of course, everybody swore they weren't. It felt like the little stylus, (or whatever the handrest is called), was floating it moved so effortlessly. I jumped up because I could feel the literal evil around me...I took a flashlight and immediately ran around the graveyard and looked at every single headstone and none were named "Michael Cox"..In fact, there was not even a Cox named in the entire cemetery...I don't know a "Michael Cox" and neither did any of us. My mother and father are buried in that same cemetery. I know that things like Ouija boards and the like are evil and not to be dabbled with... I later learned that the Bible warns repeatedly about sorcery, its dangers and willingly allowing demonic spirits in your mind and soul. I went to it laughing and went out with a much better understanding. |

One being, ''The helmet of salvation," to guard your mind from demonic or other types of worldly influences. It is there for a reason and it is real just as demonic attacks to the soul can be real. It should also be noted here that humans can create many of their own shortcomings and mischief on our own without influence except for the inborn nature of sin from within. |

Quoted: The one time I ever played with one I peeked and everyone else had their eyes closed. I definitely wasn’t controlling it, just letting it pull my fingers along. Cant say about anyone else. Got some yes/no answers and some gibberish mixed with words. Someone asked the name and all we got was the letters EJ. I had an aunt die just a couple years earlier in a car wreck at the age of 20. Her name was Esther Jean. My other aunt her sister was one of the other people there that night. We were at my grandparents house, a large two story cabin style in the woods. It was summer, no a/c so we had windows opened. Dead calm night but just seconds after my aunt was like EJ? Esther? A strong wind blew through the house and slammed the bedroom door hard. Needless to say we were done after that. So anyways, I’m sure it is just the ideowhatever but that one time was good for me for life. If you're eyes are closed, how do you know what it's spelling? |

Quoted: I made the mistake of consulting a self-proclaimed fortune teller with a familiar spirit about who I would marry. She predicted it was someone I couldn't stand. I was hounded by an entity for years that tried its best to get me interested in that woman. Although I repented of it long ago, I'm not 100% sure that entity is gone for good. I do not mess around with the occult anymore. You fell for some really basic cold reading tricks. And then let those parlor tricks fuck with your life for years afterward. Let me put your mind at ease. The fortune teller didn't have a familiar spirit. He/she read your verbal and non verbal cues and gave a vague general prediction about romantic interest in some person you were clearly already thinking about. A prediction that often enough is the case anyways. I have several friends who either dated or married someone they previously couldn't stand. |

Quoted: So, you routinely dine with exorcist? Are they Catholic priests? Side note question; wasn't there some news reports on the Catholic church training exorcists from other Christians religions? Would have been in the last decade. Never heard of this, but I doubt that would fly. On a side note, our priest asked the exorcist of our Archdiocese how many he had performed over a long career. All but one were referred to psychiatrists. The state insane asylum called him about a patient that spoke foreign languages he’d never been taught and would slide up a wall without using arms or legs. He said the guy wouldn’t talk about it other than what the state doctors told him. |

Quoted: So yes, in other words. Quoted: Quoted: I'm not going to answer that because you've already introduced bias with the word "hallucinations." So yes, in other words. You've asked me to relate a very personal part of my experiences but you're already suggesting they are invalid. You have your mind made up and so there is no point in my stating anything further. |

Quoted: So yes, in other words. Frankly, you either believe in literal good and evil or you don't. If you do, then sometimes you will get nuanced or even overt cues that the situation is not right. If you don't, then everything is logic and there is nothing spiritual in anything. It's really a worldview question. |

Which is why I asked if it was physical stuff or just feelings. That would indicate whether or not you should seek medical attention. People who see or hear things that aren't there sometimes have tumors in their brain. Or suffer from schizophrenia. If I started seeing/hearing supernatural stuff, I'd go see a doctor immediately. But that's just me. You do you. |

If you don't, then everything is logic and there is nothing spiritual in anything. It's really a worldview question. I believe in personal responsibility. No demon ever made or influenced anyone to do anything. Humans are all responsible. Entirely. 100%. All the time. No supernatural force influenced them or gave them ideas. It has always been humans doing good or evil by their own actions. |

Quoted: Don't play with Ouija boards. Don't have "welcome" anything around the front door to your house. Don't block inside corners of your house with furniture. Don't play with organic mercury. Don't play with Plutonium. Anything else? smooth is the devil's device, Crunchy is God's food. Beans are poison, they should never be mixed with meat. |

Quoted: I'm not. This was simply a thing which I observed in that generation. The flouring of New Age ideas and the growing popularity of Wiccanism followed in its wake. When I was growing up only "idiots" believed in witchcraft. I held that belief myself--until I managed to somehow piss off a coven of witches. Out of those experiences I have seen two individuals, one male, and one female, who I felt could have been very possibly demon possessed. I have also witnessed quite a few people from working at a prison and other conditions that i felt were solely mentally ill but possibly demon oppressed in certain cases because of their torment. At least to me there was a difference and I believe that the occurrences of the demon possessed are very rare but existent all the same. That, however, may be about to change. |

Quoted: And there it is. That's why you cannot have a discussion about this in any way that some others can have because mine and your world views are diametrically opposed. So it wasn't entirely Stalin's fault that he killed millions of Ukrainians in forced starvation. A demonic entity made him do it. |

Quoted: I believe in personal responsibility. No demon ever made or influenced anyone to do anything. Humans are all responsible. Entirely. 100%. All the time. No supernatural force influenced them or gave them ideas. It has always been humans doing good or evil by their own actions. Teaching and accepting personal responsibility is the best default position for most matters, for a variety of reasons. Even when environmental factors complicate personal "blame," it is still the belief in personal responsibility that drives the human effort to overcome adverse circumstances. At the end of the day, all we can control is ourselves. However, treating personal responsibility as a common sense rule for life is different from treating it as a fundamentalist belief. Is your position also, "And there is absolutely no possibility that I am mistaken about this in any case ever, so anyone who thinks otherwise or leaves room for doubt is stupid or mentally ill." ? If so, what happens when you take a step back and look at others, with different beliefs, who espouse the same militant certainty? |

Maybe not one, but possibly with the help of a legion of them which would be several thousand even or Satan himself as an ally. Someone like Stalin would in fact merit his attention for about fifty million reasons and the suffering on a scale that has never been repeated up to this very day. These were no rookie numbers for that particular evil entity, the leader of the kingdom of darkness as he is. No one is asking you to believe either. |
