[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Stay safe Memphis, TN. Tyre Nichols Murder. Update: Officers charged. Video released. (Page 18 of 27)

Quoted: Isn't it the same with the taser? You have 3-4 cops going "hands on" the guy and the 5th cop comes in with a taser and the other cops let him go and back away? Quoted: Quoted: I was one of those cops, I'd punch the guy spraying all the fucking OC. I hated when guys got spray happy. You're not helping, moron. Not for nothin', but that dude was spry. And, those cops were scary. I wouldn't have resisted. They all had that "We're gonna stomp your ass" tone of voice. Isn't it the same with the taser? You have 3-4 cops going "hands on" the guy and the 5th cop comes in with a taser and the other cops let him go and back away? No, at least as long as the person with the taser isn't a moron. Pepper spray gets on everyone. We had a couple people liked to spray prisoners who were acting up, as long as they were in other people's squad cars. I seriously spraying one of them the next time I saw him. |
|
The beating looked personal to me. There was a reason behind it. Those cops knew what they were doing. Telling him to put his hands behind his back was just lip service for any bystanders. The ones with body cams stayed behind or kept walking away as to not point the cams towards the beating. It reminded me of watching the Shield |
|
Quoted: "Suspect"?? You're all the same. He's the "victim". Based on your posts you're the "baddie". Try as you may no reasonable man is going to agree with you that this kid is the one who escalated this horrific murder. Stop trying to gaslight everyone with this "he could have stopped this" bullshit. Fuck your compliance. Quoted: Quoted: It’s literally on video. The suspect fought two sets of cops…went from standing to prone to OC to standing to taser to running…escape for a while…to standing to prone to standing to finally getting cuffed in standing position while fighting…to seated against a car and finally stopping his resistance. He must have had serious cardio. That’s a crazy long fight. He likely physically fought 10 people inside 30 minutes while covered in OC. "Suspect"?? You're all the same. He's the "victim". Based on your posts you're the "baddie". Try as you may no reasonable man is going to agree with you that this kid is the one who escalated this horrific murder. Stop trying to gaslight everyone with this "he could have stopped this" bullshit. Fuck your compliance. Fuck not being able to follow lawful orders Fuck blaming others for your actions Fuck lack of accountability (the suspect, not PD) |

Quoted: Cuffing someone resisting is bad tactics without full control These guys had bad tactics though too Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: If he had complied right at the beginning he'd probably still be alive. Looks like the cops weren't very good at what they were doing. He never had the chance He didn't comply on the initial stop, though. He never complied. He fought his way from the ground, all the way to standing…at both stops. That’s actually impressive. Because the cops were trying to beat him, not cuff him. They actually gave him room to get to his feet in the second encounter. At no point did they even attempt to get him in cuffs during either encounter. You don’t cuff someone actively resisting..,cuffs go on when resisting has mostly stopped. Otherwise, the suspect will use the cuffs as a weapon and you have to shoot them while they go brass knuckles on your face with your own cuffs. Lol, Ok. I've done it more times than i can remember, dozens at least, you just need at least one person to help, preferably two. If you wait for them to stop, they wont. Last guy had 20-30 pounds on me. Me, a female cop, and another guy my size got him into cuffs with him resisting the whole way. It took less than two minutes and zero strikes were thrown. They had 4-5 guys there that all had 60 pounds on me and the guy they were dealing with was very thin build. JFC the guy wasn't actively assaulting police, just resisting arrest. And pretty mildly at that. Cuffing someone resisting is bad tactics without full control These guys had bad tactics though too Right, and three guys can get control, no need to wait for the perp to let you. Shouldn't have been a problem, but they didn't even try. |
|
Quoted: Not going to defend these particular cops, but... Did this kid Tyre, not watch the Chris Rock video? Ever had a citation for a traffic violation ? Did it go like this - You sat in your car. Officer pointed out the offense without any obscenities. Gave you a ticket and you drove home. Or did it go like this - Officer flings your door open. Drags you out while screaming obscenities including threats to "Blow you up". Threw you on the ground and demanded you lay face down. |

Quoted: Bludgeon the guy till they Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Cuffing someone resisting is bad tactics without full control These guys had bad tactics though too They had tactics? Bludgeon the guy till they |
|
Quoted: He also fought through a can f OC, a taser, and kicked the officer you see limping around…along with fighting his way from the ground to his feet twice while 4-5 guys failed to keep him down. That suspect is a champ at escaping custody and totally ignoring non lethal weapons. He resisted…for a long time. I thought the limping cop was the cop that kicked the kid - I was wondering if he may have injured his leg on one of his kicks |

Jeez. These .... I got no words. Barely the closest thing comparable would be some SS guards working over some poor starved Jew in a concentration camp. These five are history. Memphis's budget gonna get stretched buying these fat sunzabitches XXXL flak jackets. Whoever hired these things needs to be sat down n forced to watch this crap at least once a day. And afterwards left in a room with a square blue pill. |
|
Quoted: Thanks. Pretty much what I suspected. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Bled out in the hospital? Yes Man, if that wasn't internal bleeding ... How the heck people die of bleeding with the clotting agents we have now ... @20229mm Am I off base thinking it's really wierd for someone to die of bleeding out nowadays unless something has gone REALLY sideways? It happens. Rare once you get definitive care. Thanks. Pretty much what I suspected. Something like 24 minutes passed from cuffs to loading him on a gurney. Plenty of time for irreversible damage. |

I haven't really paid attention to this case, and I don't really give a shit anymore if the usual suspects burn it down. They're just gonna do what they're gonna do at this point and no one is gonna stop them. But just out of curiosity, what did the cops pull the kid over for in the first place? What started all of it? |
|
Quoted: This is what I was just thinking of. Plenty of guys on arf have said that they're guys with clean backgrounds, with absolutely no reason for them to ever have cops break into their home. And if they did, they would treat it as a home invasion and do the needful, because they're so squeaky clean that those men must be police impostors. That could be the case here. Tyre might have had a clean background, had no idea why all these guys just dragged him out of his car, and in a panic, took off. I'd like to hear the officer's point of view on why they took the actions they did. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: So where is the documentation/video legitimizing dragging a motorist from their vehicle? Lets start there ok? To my knowledge they haven’t released it, which is a shame. Right now all we have is a guy being randomly pulled out and told to comply. I would have difficulty with that if that scenario happens to me. But in the future videos one of the guys says he stopped, and then drove around their car and stopped again. If that happened, then that could explain the drag out. There is no excuse for the haymakers, field goal kicks, and tee ball shots with the baton. Shit was fucked up. This is what I was just thinking of. Plenty of guys on arf have said that they're guys with clean backgrounds, with absolutely no reason for them to ever have cops break into their home. Tyre might have had a clean background, had no idea why all these guys just dragged him out of his car, and in a panic, took off. I'd like to hear the officer's point of view on why they took the actions they did. Add to this it appeared all unmarked cars with officers wearing generic police ID. |

They're just gonna do what they're gonna do at this point and no one is gonna stop them. But just out of curiosity, what did the cops pull the kid over for in the first place? What started all of it? The $10,000 question I dont know if it was the police chief or another high ranking officer of that department, but they said that the erratic or reckless driving that the former cops claimed lead them to stop the vehicle, did not happen. |
|
Quoted: That’s what it looked like to me. I see a life pack so they are ALS. Def could have done anything to help him, yet did nothing. Yeah, I've been retired off the job for quite a few years now, but I was still like "Where's the fucking patient assessment?" "Patient exam?" "Even acknowledging that you have a patient?" |

They're just gonna do what they're gonna do at this point and no one is gonna stop them. But just out of curiosity, what did the cops pull the kid over for in the first place? What started all of it? An unverified reckless driving charge. No video yet if any, only the word of the 5 indicted officers caught on video killing a "suspect. |

Isn't that hambeast in the front one of the detectives on the First 48? |

Quoted: Yeah, I've been retired off the job for quite a few years now, but I was still like "Where's the fucking patient assessment?" "Patient exam?" "Even acknowledging that you have a patient?" I saw the lifepack powered up, never saw a cuff on the guy. Granted the video was printed away for a while. |

They're just gonna do what they're gonna do at this point and no one is gonna stop them. But just out of curiosity, what did the cops pull the kid over for in the first place? What started all of it? Supposedly... the initial report was something along the lines of "erratic driving." Then there was supposedly a review by a high level officer and they saw no evidence of "erratic driving." |

Like others I have no idea what prompted the initial stop. I agree with some that he was clearly resisting and not complying despite his claims. Do we not see that in so many LE encounters. It is irrelevant that this went down near Tyre's house because you do not get to ignore police and take off. Tyre decided to run so I have no doubt that the police were wondering if the guy was running for something on top of this. I watched the pole came vid twice and it appears one officer delivered the kicks and punches. I see what appears to be a new officer come in with his baton and level a couple of strikes which if they were to the head went beyond. I still believe he was resisting and did not have both hands cuffed at all of these times. I have no problem with pain compliance to get someone cuffed up but kicking someone in the head and punching them in the head like that while other officers are hands on went way beyond. Had it been one officer fighting I would have been fine with anything as the officer does not have to lose the fight or his life if your resisting arrest. Some lawyers are making an issue out of the statement about stomping and trying to say that could mean they wanted him dead which could mean a 1st degree murder charge. I think that is ridiculous and I do not care what threats the officer made in an effort to get Tyre to comply. We see officers make threats all of the time in an effort to warn and get a suspect to comply. Kidnapping charge is a WTF as well as some other weapons charge. I do not see five officers engaged in the same behavior. I definatley see one officer who is going down and potentially a second who used the baton last. I see the defense attorneys asking two officers did you know that such and such officer was going to come in a start kicking and punching the suspect and the answer will be no as it happened so fast. |

They're just gonna do what they're gonna do at this point and no one is gonna stop them. But just out of curiosity, what did the cops pull the kid over for in the first place? What started all of it? From what I heard they are unable to find any video evidence of the alleged reckless driving that prompted the stop. |
|
Quoted: Have they released the criminal records of the cops? I wouldnt be surprised if at least a few of them had priors before joining the force. The trial will be the most interesting thing here. An utter failure by every government agency involved I’m sure. If it's true that the chief hand-picked these turds, there's no way she doesn't get the axe, right? Right? Right? |

Quoted: He also fought through a can f OC, a taser, and kicked the officer you see limping around…along with fighting his way from the ground to his feet twice while 4-5 guys failed to keep him down. That suspect is a champ at escaping custody and totally ignoring non lethal weapons. He resisted…for a long time. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: So, have they determined the final cause of death? Was it as a result of the beating, the tasering, the pepper spray, a combo, what? I'm going to guess trauma to the brain will be the proximate cause of death. The taser wasn't very effective and the OC spray ended up on the officers as much as on the suspect. The beating, however, went entirely one way. I didn't see the deceased throw a punch or kick. He tried to get loose and get away, but he didn't manifest any aggression. One of the cops standing around after, tried to claim that Tyre tried to go for his gun (actually says something like, "He literally had his hand on my gun"). No idea what happened before the pole camera panned over, but I definitely didn't see him fighting, swinging, or reaching for anyone's sidearm. Was he resisting? Yeah, in the initial stop, he refused to lie on his stomach and put his right arm behind him, and when they kept asking, and trying, he used the opportunity to squirm out and bolt. Used the same technique in the 2nd video, laying on his right side without putting his right arm behind his back. At some point, they were spraying him in the face, then kicking and striking, and he was just trying to protect his head by that point, but again, don't know why the culture seems to be all about noncompliance, while repeating, "What did I do? I didn't do nuthin!". The roadside isn't the place to argue with LE, while refusing to comply. No idea what kind of "Respect My Authority!" types you might piss off (like the white officer who cuffs the skinny white kid, then drags him to the pavement and deliberately drops him on his face from a few feet up, while the kid's hands are cuffed behind his back). He also fought through a can f OC, a taser, and kicked the officer you see limping around…along with fighting his way from the ground to his feet twice while 4-5 guys failed to keep him down. That suspect is a champ at escaping custody and totally ignoring non lethal weapons. He resisted…for a long time. If five thugs were trying to beat you to death, I imagine you'd do everything in your power to prevent it, too. |

If I arrive on scene and my partner/co-worker officer has already established this guy needs to exit his vehicle, I am going to go along with his judgement and extricate the suspect post haste. |

Quoted: My wife said they kept shouting “get your hands behind your back!” That sounds like trying to get him in cuffs to me. Quoted: Quoted: Because the cops were trying to beat him, not cuff him. My wife said they kept shouting “get your hands behind your back!” That sounds like trying to get him in cuffs to me. That's like a carry permit instructor telling you to yell, "Stop, I'm in fear for my life" as you pull a gun to shoot someone. It's done less in the hopes they'll comply and more in the expectation that that's what witnesses will remember, especially if they hear it enough. |

That suspect is a champ at escaping custody and totally ignoring non lethal weapons. He resisted…for a long time. You and I have similar training, and I’m telling you that you are wrong. At no time in these videos did his actions appear to justify or warrant the kicks to his face/head, or the punches to the face/head that we see in the video. Certainly NOTHING that is contemporaneous to the delivery of said strikes. Especially the wind up kick to the face, at a time when it looks like there is no active resistance. A kick like that to the face/head is NOT a compliance technique, and couldn’t be construed as a defensive tactic in this circumstance. Very clear excessive force, reckless disregard for life, way outside the scope of employment, resulting in the death of someone in their care/control. |

It would have been released too. |
