Quoted: Rodney lived Quoted: Quoted: The Rodney King video can still be found. This one is bad, but I think the RK video was definitely worse. Those guys were using batons and just repeatedly swinging. Within 20 seconds, they'd hit RK 5X more times than this kid was hit (and they continued). Rodney lived I don't recall ... did the EMTs that showed up on the rodney king case first render aid immediately? |
Quoted: This is not a training issue. This is mongrel animals beat up a guy, probably a criminal, after he was down. Dude coulda saved himself a lot of trouble, that is not the point. The point is after they had him they exacted their pound of flesh on a guy who could no longer fight back. That makes them animals no better than any criminal they have chased. Every one of them that hit him needs time for ag assault or attempted murder whatever their charge is in TN. They're gonna get the needle. They murdered literally beat him to death on camera. They, and the other four garbage human beings who stood around while the guy died all deserve the needle. They weren't being cops, they were being criminals. |

Quoted: Cops fabricating a story to justify their actions? I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Is there no dashcam video from the erratic driving? I saw a high ranking officer say they reviewed ALL video and found no reckless driving. Cops fabricating a story to justify their actions? I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you. ![]() My apologies. As has been explained on pg 13, I misinterpreted your post. Again, my apologies. |

Quoted: Probably not very. Have to appreciate the irony of a Police camera being their undoing. Quoted: Quoted: How safe do you think they are now, after THEIR ACTIONS have come to light? Probably not very. Have to appreciate the irony of a Police camera being their undoing. I was told by another member here, who sounded like he was an LEO, in another thread that the police represent accountability. This is what accountability looks like. |
Quoted: JFC, NYPD cop 2 now on Fox saying it's training. This is fucking embarrassing. Blaming the rules on this, because they can't pin him down. This guy is fucking embarrassing and a disgrace. Completely agree some are just untrainable. I see it in my field of work, guys unable to do the job no matter what and management ignoring it and usually they run themselves out, but every once in a while they fuck up at great expense to the company. |
Quoted: I'm not sure if they initiated it (I just watched 2 and 1).. but video 1 he is pulled out of the car and takes off running. The officers there did make an attempt to detain him and at least from the body cam, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary (I don't know if they ended up on the scene of the beating or not.. both stated they couldn't see as they'd been pepper sprayed, so I'm assuming they stayed with the cars). Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: As many might know i have not been an advocate for cops, but Nichols DID RESIST, he ran and resisted again. He definitely deserved to be arrested and charged. BUT............. Those cops were completely out of control. I could not see any training be applied. The one cop punching a handcuffed man in the head probably killed Nichols. The cops do deserve to be charged. I dont believe the cops have ever been trained. How the fuck can 5 220-240 lb grown men not restrain that skinny dope head? DAMN! Agree with you 100%. The arrest was legit... he was clearly resisting on the ground.. where it went out of damn control is when you literally start head kicking him, etc. I think headkicks like that on a downed opponent, are illegal in the damn UFC.. I wouldn't even assume the arrest was legit at this point. Is there video from the two who initiated contact on the traffic stop? All I saw was video from the third cop who approached the stop. I'm not sure if they initiated it (I just watched 2 and 1).. but video 1 he is pulled out of the car and takes off running. The officers there did make an attempt to detain him and at least from the body cam, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary (I don't know if they ended up on the scene of the beating or not.. both stated they couldn't see as they'd been pepper sprayed, so I'm assuming they stayed with the cars). They pulled him out of his car. No clue why. Then they made a pretty half asssed attempt to cuff him, to the point where he got to his feet and ran. They were far more worried about hitting him with tasers and pepper spray than cuffing him. Something is off. |
Quoted: I was told by another member here in another thread that the police represent accountability. This is what accountability looks like. I'm sure the thin blue line crew will be along to tell us that the video is only PART of the story and the parts we need to understand weren't shown or some BS. Fuck 'em. |
Quoted: It's almost like they had a vendetta. Did they mistake him for someone else ? Did something transpire beforehand to infuriate those cops to that extent ? Unless I missed something he remained polite and never struck, head butted or bit the cops during the entire ordeal, and as I stated above I believe he ran the first time because he was legitimately in fear for his life. They peppered sprayed themselves and took it out on Tyre Nichols. |
Quoted: As a cop, here's my take... ETA: I won't weight in on the Firefighters/EMTs who responded, that's not my profession. Medic here. They had a guy with obvious facial trauma and an altered mental status to go along with it. And they did nothing. Not a damn thing. I don’t know if they are a transport agency or just a als agency that doesn’t transport (I didn’t see if it was an ambulance that responded or if it was an engine) A good sign of medics not giving a shit is leaving the stretcher in the ambulance. I almost never do it. If they are a transport agency and left it, it leads me to believe that they didn’t give a shit, and the lack of visible care would back that up. Had I showed up to that scene I would have Grabbed my shit. Walked it to the patient. Gotten a report from the thugs/cops Done a quick assessment and seen that he was fucked up. Toss a c collar on him Move him to cot. Roll to the truck Vitals Begin transport to trauma center Start IV if time permits. They didn’t do shit. |

If the video timestamps are accurate, those 2 who couldn't see (from the original traffic stop, including Mr "I hope they stomp his ass"), weren't among the 4 holding and beating him in Video 2. They were still in Video 1 long after the beating began in Video 2 (which started ~8:32 ish?). If I saw video 2 correctly, there was ONE guy in particular who was the most out of control; Was it the same guy who initially kicked him in the face/head twice while Tyre was on the ground, who then was taking the roundhouse swings while his buddies were holding Tyre's arms? (I don't think Tyre was cuffed yet. It looked like after the left haymaker, Tyre's legs give out, at which point, they get on him on the ground and finally got him cuffed). |

Quoted: As a cop, here's my take... 4) This is not a representation of ALL cops... Sadly, this completely sets back any bit of reform that had been happening since the Floyd incident. These savages just set us back 50 years with this. Yea, I disagree. This is five cops that all decided that they were gonna beat the fuck out of a guy. No one yelled stop. No one tried to stop it. Not even with body cams. Everyone was totally cool with it happening. They all thought what they were doing was justified. This is representative of the mentality of the majority of police officers. Decades of a "war in drugs" and a "war on crime" has led to this. This is systemic. |
Quoted: Why would these officers attack this man? Quoted: Why would these officers attack this man? No idea what caused them to set on him specifically. Was this a gang banging by officers? Any thoughts? Memphis PD routinely gets felony waivers to meet "recruitment goals", especially those related to "diversity". If that tells you anything. Memphis is the most violent city per capita in the nation. There are so many violent criminals there that the criminal justice system is completely overwhelmed. |

Um, you should read what he said again. That's the high ranking officer saying that the cause for the stop in the first place was not there. |
Quoted: They're gonna get the needle. |
| The cops in this video are not the biggest problem MPD has. MPD leadership has zero control of their officers or this would have never happened. These guys didn't give a shit about their body cams or the PD poll cam or they never would have done this. At my PD you would have gotten suspended for just talking to that guy they way they did. There must be no one auditing their videos or holding them accountable. That PD is broken. |

It’s almost like they had a personal issue with the guy. Like maybe he was screwing one of their wives. My hunch is judging by the unprofessional hoodie uniforms these guys were on a some kind of anti gang or anti drug task force. The victim was absolutely targeted but I believe they thought he was someone else, someone much more dangerous. |
Quoted: Don't be surprised if the protesters burn the officer's houses down. |
Quoted: Holy shit !!! They literally beat that kid to death. How did they get all the pole camera angles ? That in itself is scary AF. Sky Cop - it's the cities police department cameras on poles all over the city. This is going to lead to even more cameras everywhere. Kind of like how China does it. Nothing happens in China without being on video. |
Quoted: I couldn't care less. Send them. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Black on black... And blacks burning down black bidnes is what I just can't wrap my head around. But what'eva These black cops go to prison, they will be added to incarceration rate of blacks and used as proof blacks are prosecuted at higher numbers, so, lose, lose, lose, lose. I couldn't care less. Send them. This, Fuck those mothefuckers! I don’t care! |

Quoted: Cardiac arrest and kidney failure from blows to the head? Is there something else missing from this beating? Did they run him over with a car at some point? Or did he have some drugs in his system? Meth? PCP? If you get hit enough and hard enough on your head or vital organs your heart will stop beating. |
Quoted: As a cop, here's my take... 1) This incident is sickening. Video 2 from the traffic pole is bad. The BWCs are bad. Watching the timestamps was disgusting. 2) All of the officers who have been terminated should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. 3) All of the other officers on scene not terminated should be suspended without pay pending an even deeper investigation. 4) This is not a representation of ALL cops... Sadly, this completely sets back any bit of reform that had been happening since the Floyd incident. These savages just set us back 50 years with this. 5) Two-fold: AND IN NO WAY JUSTIFYING WHAT THESE SAVAGES DID ----- Don't resist. Let the cuffs go on, and situations like this (probably) never happen. I'm sure there'll be more takes but as someone who has been in multiple situations involving resisting individuals, this is embarrassing, pathetic, brutal, and an absolute K.O. punch to all other officers who wear the badge the right way and proudly around the nation. ETA: I won't weight in on the Firefighters/EMTs who responded, that's not my profession. I will make the following statement based on a GD reference to not willingly letting yourself be loaded onto the train........ Any individual who is pulled over for a TRAFFIC VIOLATION and is expecting an officer to walk up to his window, demand license and registration and issue a citation............who is instead dragged out of the car by an officer shouting obsceneties, thrown to the ground.....cannot be blamed for going into fight ( resist ) or flight mode because he us in fear for his life. If I believe I am about to be beaten to death, I sure as hell will not voluntarily lay face down for it ! Obstruction is only obstruction if you are stopping the officer doing something lawful. Even a civilian has a right to self defense when illegally assaulted by a police officer. |

Seriously, screw anyone trying to justify this. And screw anyone calling the victim any term that is synonymous with criminal. There is no indication he did ANYTHING WRONG. He fled clearly because of how violent the police were from the getgo. He probably thought he would take his chances running to his parents house. At least there would be witnesses. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. I don't wish harm on any of you who are cops but these cops in this video (all of them, not just the 5 charged) deserve whatever punishment comes their way. Either through the justice system or mob justice. |
Quoted: Yeah I mean like I said, it's cruel but this is literally the society they advocated for, and I can guarantee you that future applicants will now be even lower quality after this. Nobody with two braincells will want to be associated with the Memphis PD. There are already people in this thread extrapolating it onto the whole department. You could be the most honorable cop in the world but the public will think you're just like these guys, if you join the MPD. Quoted: Quoted: That's what they want though, right? Wasn't there a movement not long ago voicing their frustration that cops policing these communities didn't live there, didn't spend their salaries there, or fit the demographics? I remember seeing one video where a crowd chased a white officer out of the scene, maybe it was in Atlanta. It'll go minneapolis, like Turboguy (iirc the right fellow's name on this board) has laid out for us. Effectively NO pd. Anarchy - which is worse than even this, because it's this, whenever and wherever and maybe for no reason at all beyond you were just available to beat on (for anyone, not just the cops). The number of cops on the street in minneapolis during a shift ... as was explained ... unless that's changed, they don't have a police department, and people are doing whatever they want. After that comes the strongman, who people will accept because he can bring order, who cares how evilly he does it. |
Quoted: Those cops are fucked. Deservedly so. The fuckers hit him in the head with a baton and slammed his head down into the pavement. Kicked him in the face and pepper-sprayed him. They had to drag him over to the cruiser and lean him against it, and even then, he couldn't sit up straight. Why were vice squad members pulling this dude over and giving him the "guns and yank-out" treatment? |
Quoted: So, have they determined the final cause of death? Was it as a result of the beating, the tasering, the pepper spray, a combo, what? I'm going to guess trauma to the brain will be the proximate cause of death. The taser wasn't very effective and the OC spray ended up on the officers as much as on the suspect. The beating, however, went entirely one way. I didn't see the deceased throw a punch or kick. He tried to get loose and get away, but he didn't manifest any aggression. |
Quoted: Fox just said tyre was 6’3”, 140 pounds Those cops all go 225+ I guess he was maybe a sk8rboi. His cousin posted a memorial video of him skating at various places on twitter. He was good with a skateboard. No such thing as a fat sk8r, or so my sons used to tell me. My boys got their asses chewed for skating places they weren't supposed to. Kids ya know. This guy died over a moving infraction. Wow. |
