Nothing wrong with making that link hot. It's not DU who'll get ticked and send trolls our way.

Poll hit

you're an idiot.  what they can do is see this huge forum where ppl are 'conspiring' to thwart the poll and make it inaccurate.  they can do that by following the hotlink back to the site it originated, aka YOUR POST.

in order to help prevent them from throwing up additional polls 'because of error' and the chance of us missing it and losing the poll, you should REMOVE your hotlink. please.

you may say it cant hurt, but it DEFINITELY cant help

If you guys think someone is going to click on this thread, and read three pages into it before finally finding my hotlink and going to the poll that way, you're nuts.

If someone is so lazy that they won't copy/paste the first post's URL, but gets to mine on page 3 and finally decides that's easy enough to do, then so be it.

Too many tin foil hatters here. How many votes do you think this thread's going to generate?

The poll was designed to survey 2000 people. Over 15,000 have hit it so far.
msnbc.msn.com/id/3704453/

so why hotlink it?  why be an ass?

ok,

if you knew anything about web code you would know that they record the route through which people visit the site.  and 100s of ppl coming the same way is suspicious, and they can follow it in REVERSE to the post.

do you really think the reason we dont hotlink to DU is b/c they're looking for hotlinks in our posts directly by looking at them all?  obviously not, b/c if the link wasnt 'hot' they'd still get pissed and know what was up.  the REASON is they can go .   well, for simplicity, backwards through the web and end up here.

Yeah, I know all that. I doubt MSNBC has someone watching all the traffic for their online polls trying to figure out where people are voting from. I seriously doubt they care at all, as long as they can draw traffic to their site. It's a business for them, the more people go there the more money they get. It's much different from a privately run discussion board like DU.

Anyways, if Wizzo had hotlinked it in the first post nobody would have mentioned a thing about it. How many other polls have people here linked from. You act like I'm sacrificing virgins on an altar or something. Sheesh Go find something else to do.

To me this isn't only supporting the NRA its also standing up against the coporate badstards that control every aspect of our life. I work for a company that does work for FEDEX. They don't allow firearms in their (FEDEX) parking lot also. Think about this next time you ship an item especially gun related items.
