Finally got to watch the video from the 1600+ meltdown. Now I just need to sell my soul to see if I can get one from the awesome team at Geissele. Ideally with the ALG brake on the end of it. I would also be interested in getting my hands on an early run of the same upper in 11.5. Let’s make some noise. |

I've been going back and forth between super duty and SR-15, but if G goes on sale it isn't even really a choice. |

So not only does it have an ability to retain more heat due to more mass, but it also has much more surface area than lighter profile barrel. It turned heads well. A few weeks later we tried it with the Griffin Armament brake that comes with the 5.56 recce 5K Yeah. I think we can go for total concussion with the ALG brake. |

I go camping sometimes at my shooting spot, which allows shooting to similar distances as the Geissele range. One of the nice things about many of the States west of the Mississippi (tons of public land for camping and shooting). But the downside is I have to set up my own stuff and am limited by what I own or can borrow. I really wanted to go to Keystone this year but the dates overlapped with my sailing schedule. It's unlikely I can make it the next three summers due to school and sailing. |

I must have missed the autopsy, you know where they disassemble it to see exactly what failed and what was on the cusp. Sure, gas tube failed that's obvious. Was the barrel straight? What did the throat look like? What does the rifling look like? Any close to blowout places in the barrel? What's the X Ray show? What Rockwell did you start with and where did it end up? Was the gas port eroded ? How much build up in the gas tube? Any erosion in the gas block? What's the bolt, extractor, gas rings look like? Basic stuff, not just standing around reinventing the HBar. Double goes for round 2 when they get it. |

My build with a 16" super duty upper is my least favorite but that's because I just don't really like 16" barrels. The gun has still gone 5 for 5 at 1013 before, a match win at New Holland's Gas Gun match, 2 top 10 finishes in Cola Warrior, and a pretty consistent better than most shooter against guys with 6.5 CM and 6 ARC guns. I guess that's pretty good for my least favorite gun. |

Not surprised with the micro short gas tube. Finding a barrel nut and handguard for it was a bitch. Was able to get one to work with some machining. Now KAK sells insanely short handguards for it now. Heck. One is just a cover for the gas tube. The brass is still under some pressure on extraction too. I may polish the chamber a bit. The marks on the cases are a bit telling. Give me a little time and I’ll dig through the used brass in the garage and find one to get a photo of. As a side note. Do not use a the super short Aero precision handguard. They will not work. I like fun and oddball guns as well as my dedicated quality defense setups. I built the 4.75 to sort of go with a 9mm 4” setup I also did. I handed it to Stu at Esstac to shoot. He fired one round. Put the safety on and handed it back to me because he felt his teeth rattle. Not to derail this thread. Always fun to see what neat stuff we can play with and come up with. I fired the 4.75 upper on his M16 lower and it was glorious. It also managed to clear my sinuses at the same time. Everyone at the event shot it. Some liked it. Others shot one round and said fuck it and handed it back. Bill, Please make that G-Hbar setup in 11.5 and maybe a super shorty like a 7.5” or 8.5-9” |
