he had his moments. Not my favorite comedian, but a very good actor.

Yes. His early Comic Relief telethons with Billy Crystal were awesome. He was also a great actor.
That's sad. |

No. But he's actually a pretty good actor when he's not trying to be funny. He was pretty funny when he was in the slapstick mode. But he was also a very good actor, too. Yep. Made the genie in Aladdin something else, too. Too bad he was a communist fuckstick. |

He had his own style, and I thought he was funny as hell. Regardless of his political views, he was a genius and a master of his style of performing.

Yes. When he was here in Taft filming "The Best of Times" with Kurt Russell he was way funny. I didn't think he knew how to turn the "funny" off. Everything was funny to him, everything. Kind of like 24 / 7 / 365 funny. I will miss him. View Quote This is a symptom of a sole in pain. Of course, but I don't have a corn cob up my ass like many here.

I never liked his over the top style, but I'm still sad he died. He had a heck of a career, even if it wasn't my thing.
Yes, hilariously so. His humor, his spirit, his mania was contagious.
RIP you glorious bastard. |
I really liked a lot of his roles. His humor was okishy. Not the best imo, but I will really miss him as an actor
some of his movies were funny I think, I don't really remember seeing any of them recently that weren't serious. I liked Hook as a kid -- BANGARANG MOTHERFUCKERS

I could only tolerate him years ago in small quantities. His good stuff was probably while he was a coke addict.
Did he die nude with a belt around his neck in his closet or with a bag over his head? |
I even liked what were considered his "bombs" like What Dreams May Come, and Bicentennial Man.
I always liked him.. He may have been a lib, but did do some visits to entertain the troops overseas so he was alright by me.

Always been a fan. His Live at The Met is comedy gold. Don't remember which one but seeing him and Jonathon Winters together on one of the late night talk shows was hysterical.

Awesome time for this thread. Why? Perhaps because he was found dead this morning? Good lord people, just because hes dead doesn't mean you can't talk about him, Death does not make him a deity That said, He had some funny moments but I think his best role was in "What Dreams May Come". |

I never did. Great guy but not funny View Quote I thought much of his comedy was hilarious. And some of his dramatic work was excellent. |

Never saw his stand-up, but never really found him funny in movies. I generally avoided them. I found it to be kind of an obnoxious humor like Jim Carrey, except I really dislike Jim Carrey.

He never seemed to be off
If we never listened to or watched entertainers that are on the opposite side of out politics you'd be missing a lot of good shit The Fisher King took my breath away it was so poignant Patch Adams grabbed me too GMV was great I was a Jonathan winters fan back in the day, but Williams tired me out doing standup Talent can hide personality flaws many greats have passed on with issues |

As a kid I loved his standup comedy but as an adult I found it really....well, coked out and not funny at all.
However, when he was scripted, Mr. Williams was FANTASTIC. I remember reading an interview in the late 70s where he quite vocally professed that he wanted to do serious work. It took a long time for him to get there as he was really typecast in a time when typecasting STUCK. Still, he persevered and, by God, he was a DAMN good dramatic actor....and a good comedic one, too. It's a bummer that he won't be practicing his craft any longer....as he was damn good at it. |
His stand up was OK, I never cared for his coked out manic comedic style,
IMHO he was a much better actor. |
I never did really. Thought it was a bit too forced. Sad to see him go though.
Never thought he was really that funny. Jim Carrey doesn't do it for me either.
