Yes I was a gun guy, thats why I got hired. I had sales experience and knew guns and how to sell them. Didn't like the laws and doing trade shows. We had a reputation after-hours at SHOT and a couple companies owners did not allow employees to hang out with us. View Quote |

Thanks for doing this. I worked for an FFL years ago and was direct before the Remington chaos. DPMS was good quality at a reasonable price and the CS was awesome for us in FL. Sad to see the black cat express retired. Also the Black Cat Express was a disaster but nothing is more fun that shooting out of it |

Hate to see DPMS go.. it's going to leave a huge hole in the small parts segment..
Used to buy a ton of stuff from y'all when I was the Procurement Manager at Wilson.. Was the last place I knew to get 30RAR parts for us guys still tinkering with it.. |

Do you see any path forward to bring back the company name? Or do you think Remington will simply leave the industry and go back to making more fudd-ish stuff? (Not that that's a bad thing) View Quote |

What's the history behind the black anodized shaved "lightweight" lr308 stripped upper receivers? I don't recall ever seeing them on a production rifle. I have 4 of them. Some high, some low.

The Product manager was not willing to take risks that we presented. I purposed to make all barrels threaded with adjustable gas blocks amongst other recommendations. When Remington took over it all changed. View Quote Had Remington not taken over I have a feeling the G2 would be the new AR-15. |

What's your favorite AR manufacturer that is still in business?

My first AR was an off-the-rack DPMS 20" A2. I bought the DCM sights and a match trigger from the DPMS catalog and used it for NRA Service Rifle matches. After 12 years and 8000+ rounds, the groups are starting to open up quite a bit. You wouldn't happen to have a spare DPMS DCM upper laying around, would you? View Quote |

In this thread:
We see how investment companies and venture capitalists ruin everything. |
|

We have a bunch of them in our group, all have been flawless, the worse one of all of them was my sons recon, the bolt was a bit tight when new, but a few good cleanings and a steady diet of ammo and with in 100 rounds it was flawless...all have shot damn good and all have been flawless reliability wise other then the recon..and since then it has been flawless....
Hell this is just the boxes I have... Attached File |

This was when everyone had started to poo poo the brand and claim Colt made every part in house etc. I have used many of their LPK and BCGs in builds. Their barrels were very accurate and I wondered who made them or the blanks. My first year production LR308 24” bull still shoots great. |

I bought one of the DPMS rifles that were ‘surplused’ a few years ago by a private contractor. They had been used, presumably, in Iraq or Afghanistan (maybe Kuwait?), but nobody knows for sure where.
Any idea where they were used? They looked just like the ones the Ugandan dudes at my COB in Iraq had....really wanna know the back story Thanks |

Thanks OP. Good thread, here’s one of your original LRs in the wild. Great elk thumpers.

Almost finished clawing our way out of that hole before upper management pissing contest shut the place down. How small did your parts manufacturing actually get? Were you making springs and detents in-house? |

Thanks for the thread OP. This DPMS talk is bringing back a lot of good memories for me.

View Quote We also sold a million stripped lowers with a "K" stamped at the end of the SN that would get returned as "factory built" that were junk. People and some DEALERS would buy the lower and build a no name gun and sell it a as factory built DPMS. |

Very first AR was a DPMS. Sold it as I wanted to be all tacticool and Gucci because I believed in the stupid tier. Wish I had kept it instead.

How many guns/lowers did DPMS ship out during their existence?
Great thread, BTW. |

Another.
What was the stripped lower/complete gun sales ratio? |
