My tacoma has more power, costs less and is not a ford or 75% made in mexico

Give it a month or so and see what a tundra goes for.

To the people who think it should be a rolling stateroom, yes.

To someone who is covered in mud and snow and elk guts, no.

To be fair those "smaller" trucks are about the same size as full size trucks were 20+ years ago and can tow/haul just as much (if not more) weight. Start looking at classic trucks, and the "Midsize" trucks of today look like giants

Full-size trucks? They've gotten cartoonishly large IMO

Picked up a '14 F150 STX crew cab, 4wd for $30,300 in Feb of last year.  Not counting the gobments portion.  Was listed for $30,800, got another $500 college rebate for graduation within the prior 2 years.  Doesn't have all the fancy options, but that's what I wanted.  I prefer cloth and bench seat anyway.  Power windows/locks, integrated trailer brake, locking rear.  Only thing it could use would be power seats, but really, how often do you really move it?  Oh and maybe a mirror on the drivers visor... bet that was a real money saver for them.

With these leaches were wanting $24k for 5 year old vehicles with 100k miles... it made sense to go new.

I'm a pretty large guy. 6'5" and 270lbs, with a wife and baby.

We just went to the local Chevy dealer and the colorados just didn't have space for us.

I asked what the best price the dealer could do to get me on a 4x4 crew cab and he said 42-46k. I can get a brand new crewmax tundra for 39k. I would think Chevy could beat that price at least.

I bought a 2015 F150 in October for 32,000.   It's a crew cab 4x4 with the ecoboost.  Granted a little higher than what you asked.  It's an XLT, not fully loaded.   But has all the options I wanted so can't complain.

On fords website I'm pricing out a 2015 to something around $34,000. How far off MSRP will dealerships budge?

I managed to find a used fleet vehicle F250 6.7 turbo diesel with 13k miles, manual doors, locks, and vinyl interior for $36k delivered.  It was less than a year old.  They advertised it with cruise control so they reimbursed me what it cost Ford to install cruise control.  I had a tow controller installef and added a nice radio.

Dealerships don't like to stock base white no frill models because it eats into their profit margins.

How do you like it? We just looked at this today and the price was within a negotiable area, I'm sure they'd knock a few K off it

I like mine. Interior is kind of plain (well...the interior is about the same from 2004-2015. They just totally revamped everything for 2016).

Decent room in the back as well. Gas mileage is meh, but it's got some get-up.

Not a huge fan of the cloth seats (especially grey). They can stain or water-mark easy. Resolve usually gets anything out, though.

I wonder could that be had with the factory installed console safe?  I never knew Ford had that as an option until I was looking at their website last night to price a new F-150 that I can't afford.

yes you can, wait until the end of november or later in the season before the 2017 silverados come out and you can get 10k off of any truck easily.  Or even during truck month.

Get the 1500 Silverado LT 4x4 Crew Cab.  you could have it for around 28k before all the taxes and fees.  It won't have any bells and whistles, but it will get you where you need to go.

I paid $32k on late 2014 for a 1500 Silverado Texas Edition ( LT trim) 4x4 crew cab; the one with the full-size rear doors and the slightly shorter bed ( I have a cargo trailer). Sticker on it was about $41k, IIRC.

Does it have to be new?  I paid for $31,000 for this:

2015 RAM 1500 Express, Crew Cab, 4x4, with the 5.7L Hemi.  Had ~7900 miles on it when I drove it off the lot about four weeks ago.

You can thank all the posers who have turned pick up trucks into minivans for the price going through the roof.

I think the price increase is due to several things:

1. Cars and SUVs are too little to haul anything in; so people are turning to pickup trucks.

2. Manufacturers are redesigning models more often---putting expensive crap that real men don't need or want, like digital displays in the dash.

3. Consumer report type magazines rate trucks low if they stick with the same design for several years---you know, like HGTV criticizing those perfectly functional "old, dated kitchen cabinets" in houses.

4. Government regulations force manufacturers to change the design every year or two for fuel economy or safety requirements.

You can get a new 2016 tundra SR with the 4.6 and four wheel drive for around $31000.
