NSWC spec is M16 internal cut without third hole.

If Zev or Geissele is making the lower for APC, then I would buy one.

Looking forward to this opportunity to purchase

Most likely I'll buy 2.

High shelf vs. Low shelf will be the biggest tangible differences then.

The QA aspect in terms of specs/tolerance is just a plus IMO.

Could you do an enhanced funnel magwell like an Aero, KE Arms and some others have?
View Quote

What is the USGI magwell spec? Is it the same spec we've had since the original AR-15/M16? It makes sense to me that Crane would want to open up the magwell to facilitate faster reloads. But I think we would be aware of that change having been made. I just put together an AR with a Aero upper and lower fit was excellent and the setscrew was not needed.

Ben, could you offer upper & lower pairs, in FDE?

The tension screw and the tolerances for the lower are the biggest things. They are not inexpensive by any means. We could have done lowers a little cheaper, but the quality difference would be noticeable.

Just a set screw under the pistol grip that threads up under the rear takedown pin. Can tighten it to reduce upper and lower slop. The aero enhanced lowers come with it.

There can be strange fit issues with uppers, so unless you specify manufacturer or sell receiver sets, then it may not be a good idea.

Thank you for responding.

I don't want to get too far into the weeds here but...

I have 13 AR platform rifles (and constantly expanding) and i have never encountered any significant "slop" in mating uppers to lowers.

Am I just that lucky?

Not really.  Most fit together pretty well imo. The screw is nice for those that want a very tight fit.  I used one on my mk 12 clone. It certainly doesn't hurt anything with its presence. You can't tell it's there without removing the pistol grip.
