FN forty nine became the Browning Pro series became the FNP/FNX, which are commercial successes.

Star in General was good enough, but just failed.

Browning BDA/BDM died because their introduction was too close to the AWB for them to make a difference, and then mags were impossible.

The Walther is a shame that it didn't take off.  Nifty gun.

The Colts and the S&W are all pieces of shit.

The Steyr suffers from being built by a company nobody in the US seems to've heard about, then the AWB/not getting adopted anywhere killed it.

Remember the P5?

I had a couple of P88s the receiver/frame cracked on both. New frame from Earl's was 3/4 of the price of the pistol.
Also had a P5 compact 1/4 inch shorter barrel and a push button mag release instead of the European grip heel release. Too valuable to use as an EDC so I traded out for a G26.

The Browning BDA name was later reused on a different pistol, which was imported to the US for a short time under the Browning name before becoming much more popular in its real identity.... as the SIG 220.

Great shooting pistols, but good luck finding accessories.

I had a Sigma .380.   Wasn't a good match for me.  Takedown and cleaning it sucked.  Just never felt like a had a good grip on it when firing.

I posted it for sale and was very surprised when it sold the same day I listed.

That was the gun that Smith designed for people who had no intention of firing it. Unfortunately, the design was perfect for people who had no intention of buying it.

Seecamp made those little 32 double action pistols that were in huge demand. The pistols were designed to work with Winchester Silver Tip ammo only. Seecamp couldn't make them fast enough and the pistols sold for more than MSRP. Then the market just fell out.

Those wound up being recalled before Vektor got sued into bankruptcy. Had a habit of going off if dropped or had the back of the slide smacked hard.

Other than the obvious WWI, WWII, Korean mostly, then Vietnam, Desert Storm and GWOT 1911s, the only auto I really want for historical or cool factor is the Bren Ten.

I do want one of the old Colt Pocket Autos from 1900-1910.

The Styer GB is a really good pistol with an interesting gas delayed blowback mechanism.

GB stands for Gas Brake (or whatever it is in Austrian)
The barrel is fixed and there is a gas port in the barrel that vents into the slide and dust cover area.
The pressure helps keep the slide forward until the bullet is out of the barrel.

Styer had a legal dust-up with Rogak that made a poorly functioning knock-off that damaged Styer's reputation.
Rogaks were produced in Morton Grove IL, a pussy liberal town that was famous for it's handgun ban.

If you want a Styer GB, get a couple mags with it, they're as rare as hens teeth and if you think panic prices on mags were high......

GB stands for gas bremse or gas braked. They speak German in Austria. Not Austrian.

It's ugly but it fits the hand very well when the magazine is in.  The trigger is horrendous- it's supposed to feel like a double action revolver and it kinda does, if you're talking about a POS Taurus 94.  On the bright side it's gone bang with everythign I've ever loaded into the way overpriced and hard to find magazines.  I'd be happy to sell it if you'd like t for collecting or testing purposes.

There were a lot of crappy pistols made in that period, but also a lot of good ones which died off after the AWB.  Everyone wanted to be able to get hi capacity mags for their new purchases.  The only two pistols I bought during that period were a P-226 and a Hi Power.

Two-tone started as attempting to better protect the frame on carbon pistols via hard chrome or nickle plating; and (rightfully) leaving the slide dark, because glare sucks. The reverse is just stupid, and should be called out as such whenever encountered.

The P220 and the Beretta 84 (with modifications) were both imported as Browning BDA. I had both and carried the Beretta a lot in the '80s.

I've only gotten a little trigger time with one, but it was pretty decent.  I liked the unique sights, and recoil was pretty soft.

Randall Stainless.45s, I had a gun store clerk claim they tried to steer gang bangers towards them as they tended to jam.
I do like my Firestar .45, dead reliable and compact, with very manageable recoil in a Officer sized pistol.
Not my video but I'm too lazy to dig the gun out of the safe for a picture.

It isn't a cross from either. It is simply a Beretta 84 with a closed slide instead of the classic open slide design that Beretta has done since the Model 1951.
