I'll bet the lap times would be closer if rider aids were taken away from the current bikes.

And if two strokes had still been in development.

Having said that, two strokes have always been harder to ride and the racing would not be as close and exciting as it is today. In the 2t days, it wasn’t uncommon to have lapped riders and there were only a few guys that could actually ride them. Today? The entire grid qualifies with a second or two.

I am two stroke guy through and through but today’s racing can’t be matched.

I would be shocked if Yamaha came out on top this year. I'm rooting for the Aprilia underdogs, but I'm guessing a Ducati rider will be champion this year.

Another video from testing.. I do like the tech commentary that Crafar and official MotoGP provides, but sometimes I just geek out and want to see bikes and hear the engines. No commentary, just bikes, engines and riders.

Aprilia had the best (ironic) presentation intro this year imo - (make-up chairs/artists for Mav and Alicia, genius). At least I hope it was ironic. Starting to think they're a dark horse. Anyways:

Wonder what's up with Ducati? Spec changes for engine all of a sudden and 63 is 1/2 second off. Also, sounds like Simon is now in the booth? Fantastic if true!

Also - bummed by Joe Roberts, he smashed it here last year. Good on Cam.

How crazy is it he had his kid on opening day of the season?

Valentino Rossi has become a father.

During the night, at the Urbino hospital, the girlfriend of the MotoGP champion who retired last season, Francesca Sofia Novello gave birth to Giulietta.

"Mom and Santa, I'm in seventh heaven! Welcome Giulietta Rossi", reads the post on Instagram of the new parents with the photo of the baby.

Only bright spot for Yamaha was Binder didn’t finish last. He actually made a respectable showing amongst the rookies. Good for him.

Thought this was an interesting stat:

The 2022 Qatar race was 10.799 seconds faster than when Fabio won in 2021, and Fabio finished 10.543 seconds behind the leader this year.

So it seems like all the other bikes have gotten faster, but Yamaha has barely improved, by just 0.256 seconds. The fastest Ducati was 12.256 seconds faster this year, the fastest Suzuki was 8.044 s faster, the fastest KTM was 15.432 s faster, the fastest Honda was 15.511 s faster, and the fastest Aprilia was 13.939 s faster.

So now that Pol's got pace and Suzi riders are happy, where does Fabulous go? 3rd HRC ride? - that would be the writing on the wall for 93. KTM? - doubtful with so much talent in pipeline. Maybe... Aprilia?? Or maybe Yamaha will unfuck themselves this year with aero but I doubt it.

I saw that.  And Yamaha did that much better on a warmer track than last year.

Okay, they get Fabio a new tail section or whatever, maybe even give him lowering forks like Ducati.. 4 or 5 races in he has already lost the championship.

The Beast wins the premier class race.

So, how much of that is his talent, and how much was how awesome the GP21 still is?
