Quoted: Jesus. You really like plastic lowers! Was giving my welding friends Flat Spot steel puzzle kit lowers, then figgered I'd give them cracked Sabre Defense lowers as a jig. Swung by Trinity Ordnance, asked for 2 cracked ones (which are buried @ the bottom of the pile), he sold me 3x good ones for $100. Gave those away, picked up another 3, gave those away @ my wedding & would've been down to the Mk 1 & the cracked Mk 2, but had invited the owners of Trinity Ordnance to my wedding so they brought me 9 lowers, 3 w/ consecutive serial numbers. Plan to build those 3 up for the kids (need 2 more uppers & parts kits) for Christmas, reserving 1 close to that range for their grandfather, and 1 for their uncle. The rest I'll give away to folks that don't have, like the transplanted Californian solar power salesman whose wife had a gun, but he didn't. I don't remember where my cracked one has gotten to. I bought some cotter pins from Home Depot to try out instead of the $10 pair of takedown pins, but those are waiting in the van to be found again.

I remove safety selectors all the time in aluminum AR's by pushing in from the right side and rotating the selector past the fire position and then pushing them out the left side. Don't know why it wouldn't work on the plastic lowers. |

The only specialized parts for these lowers are the takedown pins (included) and the roll pin to hold down the buffer retainer pin (not included). Any lpk will work but have pieces left over. Quoted:

Quoted: If you cut the stock away, it's not legal as a pistol lower-it has had a stock attached. Removing the stock does not make it pistol-legal. ETA-and keep in mind if you buy the linked $200 upper, especially in 7.62X39, you have a very good chance of having a very rusty bore. They test fire with corrosive ammo and don't clean afterwards. It's legal as a pistol lower b/c it was never assembled as a rifle or shotgun. You can buy an number of new fully assembled AR lowers, remove the carbine stock, and throw on a sub 16" bbl upper. Voila! Legal AR pistol. I ordered 2 of the .223" uppers. If they have rusty bores, they'll go back. I bought my 5.7x28mm upper off Classic and have been quite happy w/ it. |
