When's the last time you ate a salad?

Loaded a bunch of 470 Nitro ammo.
115 gns of Retumbo under a 500 gn soft point. |
|
|
Went to the gunstore yesterday to pick up an AR that I had some work done on
Picked up a lb of CFE223 No way will I ever pass up a fully stocked reload section without picking up at least, a lb of powder |
|
|
Went to the range to test some 9mm batches.
124 grain bullet from RMR, COAL is 1.13” 4.0 gr Titegroup was 124-128 power factor, 4.1 gr Titegroup was 129-132 power factor, 4.2 gr Titegroup was 130-135 power factor. I’m all set for matches. |

One of my barrels seems to like lighter bullets so I'm going to load some 125's up with 748 and TAC for testing. I may load a few 110's with 4198 but really don't feel like messing with a long cut powder today. |

Freedom costs a buck-o-five.
7.62 > 5.45 ---- It really does pound shit harder. |

Found a couple hundred once fired STS and AA hulls in the trash at my club yesterday. Loaded them all, plus the ones I shot. 375 rounds all told. I REALLY like my Dillon for the shot shells.

|
Loaded 250 rounds of the 115 grain hollow points my CZ 9MM pistols like so well.
And found I was nearly out of Blue Dot. Gotta grab another big jug soon. |

I finished loading the Berry’s 147gr that I had on the bench.
Then I messed with some older 77gr Ndolers I had loaded which won’t chamber in my current rifles. I think I’m stuck pulling and resizing... |

I spent time measuring 5.45 cases (new Hornady cases, once fired Russian and some unfired Russian), then measured a bunch of pulled Russian (7n6?) bullets to boot.
CIP standards don’t have a datum point on case shoulders for measuring case headspace, so I am calculating where various Hornady comparator bushings would be on the case shoulder. It’s a bit laborious, but it’s been fun too. |

I'll be ordering that soon. I still have to do some math to figure out where the datum circle should be on the 5.45's shoulder. Hopefully it'll be pretty straightforward. |

I sized about three hundred, 300 Blackout cases this afternoon.
I searched out all of my empty, cleaned Blackout cases. I wound up with just short of 550 of them - various commercial converted cases (range pick ups and my own empties, and my own conversions). It was simplest to just divide the whole mass of them into a bunch of 300 and another bunch of 250 cases. But once I had ‘em divided like that, it came out to actually 250 and 292... I guess I’ll live. Tomorrow, if all goes well, I’ll size the other 250. |

Finally finished the very last 55 gr remington box of 2000 slugs, loaded into plinking rounds. Received 8 lbs of TAC from Brownells.
I will finish my 55 gr hornady slugs next. I need to clean some .300AAC brass and get ready to do that next with 190SMKs, subsonics. |

I got my remaining 250 Blackout cases lubed, and they’ll wait for sizing until I’ve had a less tiring work day.
I also went through my 7.62 x39 stash and sorted some cases for sizing when I get to it. Having stuff queued up ahead of time really helps me get stuff done when those spare moments show up. |

I finished sorting my 7.62 cases, kind of getting an idea of how many of what brand I have. Quite a lot, actually. Next up, I’ll lube ‘em all up and size them - after I finish sizing my 300 Blackout cases that are just sitting there, mocking me.

Lately I’ve been “fixing” things that just don’t seem right with my equipment.
A few weeks ago I posted about my S1050 primer shut off “fix”. Yesterday I had to fix something that’s been bugging me for years. My RCBS Rock Chucker’s expended primer ejection. I primarily use my RCBS RC for sizing bullets. However, on occasion I do use it for decapping a few pieces of brass. Whenever decapping with the factory system, well, it sucks. Very few primers go where they’re supposed to. I started out by drilling a 3/8” hole at a 45° angle at the bottom of the shaft , above the cross pin. I drilled this half way into the shaft. Then I chucked up a 12” 5/16” bit and drilled down to the previous mentioned hole. Attached File Then I took a 1 1/2” 3/8” stub and attached it to the shaft. I had originally planned on threading the previous mentioned 3/8 “ hole, but I did not have the correct blind tap. So tapping it in and a quick spot weld and things were about done. All I had to do was trim a piece of plastic drinking straw to cover the old primer ejection hole in the shaft. Attached File Now the primers are all neatly deposited in the primer catcher for two of my other presses. |
