The OEM canebrake is supposed to work but it looks like you can't use the m-lock slots if you have a fat-ass can. So I'd either need a pic top rail mount for my light or an extended thing so it's behind the can. Honestly it seems like I'd be spending ~$300 to maybe get my support hand a few inches out on an already short, low round count gun. Not sure it's worth the squeeze for me yet. |

I can tell you my sico hybrid does fit in the sig mlok handguard, but not if anything is mounted on the handguard via mlok. I'm in the same boat sort of, trying to find out if an mg7 will fit in the sig keymod handguard. Not cutting my handguard and don't want to buy a second handguard. |
Reconfigured and cleaned the MPX this morning. Decided to take a family photo. Have to say, they're a good looking pair. MCX Spear LT 9" 556, SLXC, stock trigger, Romeo8T and MPX 4.5" w/ 2 segments + endcap of MODX-9, 8" Midwest Industries handguard, ELF Trigger, Romeo4T. Armaspec safeties and Radian charging handles on both (my favorite/easy upgrade). |

Super Mutt gun. Spear Upper, Virtus 6.75 guts, Legacy handguard.  Eta: Looking for a Legacy upper to help even things out.   Eta:2 Well to no ones surprise, you get tighter fitment using a Legacy Upper with Legacy handguard.  Imo, the VC XTN works better with aluminum handguards. The carbon hg needs the longer rail groove on the legacy upper to be secure. Since I had everything stripped down, here are some weight comparisons incase anyone nerds out like me. Stripped Upper receiver weights (no BCG or CH. Includes FA weight or FA delete respectively) Legacy: 1lb 1.9oz Virtus: 1lb 3oz Spear LT: 1lb 0.8oz Rattler: 1lb 1.1oz Polymer Forward Assist: 1.4oz Legacy Aluminum Forward Assist: 2.2oz FA Delete: .5oz Virtuous Concepts MCX XTN: 0.5oz Rattler 556 Handguard: 6.1oz Lancer Carbon Fiber 10in: 5.9oz

Haven't had time to shoot it. I just got a factory 4.5" barrel, so I may go back to the factory 8" HG. I'll try to do some measurements this weekend. |

You can get a carbon hg to fit on a Rattler upper but you would need Virtuous Concepts MCX XL XTN to bridge the gap. I tried a VC extension with a LT upper and I ended up just searching for the actual legacy upper it's supposed to mate with. There was too much side to side play. Not a high round count gun and I can put the light on top pic rail so I don't "need" side slots but kinds wishing I went with a smaller can. |

It's the adapter piece needed to "bridge" the gap if your using a "legacy" rail with the Rattler upper. Your right. The Ir dot just clears. Definite splash on high lol. |

Virtus and Spear LT have the same length top rail, so the handguards are compatible (minus the screw holes that the Spear has). The Lancer rail is only for legacy, or Gen 1, MCX. The legacy has the longest top rail. So to use a Lancer on a Spear upper would leave a large gap. This can be filled with this product. It’s the only real solution, but not great:  This is what I mean by top rail on the receiver. Stolen off the internet. Top is a Virtus (same length as Spear LT), the 2nd and 3rd are legacy, bottom is Rattler.

The Rattler LT appears to use the same receiver as the Spear LT, at least when I counted picatinny slots from the end of the upper receiver. I don’t have one though. The Rattler LT is the most appealing of the new gen gun to me. MCX stuff can be confusing with the different generations, but MOST of it is cross-compatible, with the exceptions being the handguard from legacy to Rattler to Virtus and the OG Rattler having a shorter oprod. If there’s any combo or plans you’re considering guys on here should be able to let you know if it works. Plus, there’s a SIG employee on here that’s really helpful. |

Right now, leaning towards either building from scratch with a Legacy upper, Lancer rail and Virtus or LT internals, or buying an LT rattler and slapping a Lancer rail on with the extension and giving that a try. |

Thanks for the help in this thread guys. Pulled the trigger on 6.75” .300 Rattler LT upper, MCX Stock, Lancer CF rail, and XTN. Only bummer is that they can’t pop the muzzle device off before they ship it. I’ll be throwing it on a spare Remington Defense or Colt SBR lower with a T2, MAWL, and SF762 mini. Looking forward to this. |
