So I re-worked my multi-purpose bench with a new top.  The OSB wasnt' going to cut it anymore when spilling powder here and there.

Do you guys finish the top?  Poly, just stain or something else?

Thanks

I did. I used Minwax polyshades––––stain&polyurethane in 1 step. That way I didn't need to seal the top after staining.

This is for all you 'I don't have enough room' guys.

Here is my setup.
I live in a small condo, and was able to build a bench that fits into my closet.
The top of the bench has a small fluorescent light, and on the table is an RCBS starter kit.

Here is my reloading room / Man Cave.  I have two nice old Rockchuckers, one is a 1977 vintage and the other is an 83.

This pic is an overview

Opposite wall

Right side wall

Reloading areas.  One is an old heavy teachers/office desk and my secondary bench is a child's desk (reinforced).

Nothing fancy, it's on a college budget in an apartment. This setup is also temporary for a few weeks before moving to another apartment where I can build a seperate bench.

Rest of the equipment by the bed only because moving day is upon me.

If you're talking about my poor man's setup, it's mounted to some wood pieces and c-clamped to the nightstand top.  I could actually pull it all off and leave no marks.  Mainly did the wood elevation so that the spent primers could drop into a tray underneath the press.  I live in an apartment, so I can't get a serious bench and couldn't find a nice mobile bench that I liked.

Ok Heres my set up.  I cant get far enough back to get the whole thing in.  It's a Craftsman bench with some home made shelving on top.  Has a lockable cabinet with storage and drawers too.  Works pretty good.  I have two 650's and a Super 1050 mounted up right now and a Rockchucker that clamps on for low quanity loading.  I have 2 primer tube fillers a new Dillon and an old one from Ammoload that is the bomb!  The 1050 isn't mine.  Family member bought it and has no room to set it up until he moves in a year or so. Same with the older 650.  My heart broke when he asked if we could set it all up at my house!

I just got the rest of the Blue gear in the mail last week.   I have everything set and it is pushing out an amazing amount of .45acp and .223

It is becoming increasingly clear that I need more Brass!!!

.....so now it is time to post some picks of my humble set up.

General overview of the new 550b

Currently set up for .45acp

.223 setup in the background ready to go

I got a case feeder and had to move my progressive press to another bench.  I have a Hornady single stage on order to go on the right bench where my progressive was.  I plan to do all of my case prep on that bench.
ETA:  Updated pick #2.  New press is bolted down.

Mine is a work in progress, so that's why the mess. There are 2 Dillon XL650's, a Rockchucker, and a Hornady LNL set up for .50 BMG. Oh, and an uninstalled CasePro...

The far bench is an old Home Depot one that I added a section of countertop to. I highly recommend doing that, as it adds mass and provides a work area that is easy to clean up.

The near bench is a lightweight number from Sears. Works ok as long as I stick to pistol calibers on that press.

Behind the Sears workbench is a old cabinet with a formica top that I use for gun cleaning and minor maintenance. Drawers are full of parts, tools, etc. These 3 benches form an island in the middle of the workshop portion of my garage.

3 shelve units for loaded ammo, some brass, and bullets.

My brass stash:

What do you think about the Kobalt work benches? I have been thinking of getting two of them and reinforcing the 1/2" MDF tops, maybe using 1" MDF if I can get some from a local cabinet shop. Is it a bother not being able to put your legs under the workbench?

Thanks in advance

I have one of those benches.  It's a Kobalt, right?  Mine has the three drawers.  I found that the top didn't have enough room so I added a 60x30  3/4 in piece of dust board on top of the one that came with the bench.  I can add a vice now and it doubles as a reloader and a gun bench.

actually its a Craftsman bench, but the Kobalt is pretty much the same design

noob here...told the wife I needed a hobby, she suggested reloading...I have an awesome wife!  I have the space and a solid bench setup, question for all you guys that know what you are doing is, where do I start?  I plan on only loading some .223, and various handgun rounds for now, does anyone make a decent starter kit that isn't a huge waste of money?  I'm on a semi-limited budget as far as what I can put out all at once to get started...would I be better of piecing it together or going with a quick starter kit?  ANY ADVICE would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I recently started reloading using the RCBS starter kit available here, here, here, and here, as well as lots of other vendors.

The kit comes with most of what you'll need to get started, except a powder trickler, a case trimmer, tumbler, dies, shell holders, and calipers.

If green isn't your color, there are many other flavors of koolaid to suit your tastes.  Just about all the manufacturers offer a starter kit of some kind.

One of the first things you should start with is a good reloading book.  This was the book I started with.

I'm sure others will have differing opinions about what to start with, but I'm happy with a single-stage press for starters.
