I keep on posting this picture.

Complete PSA upper, 16" pencil barrel, 13" handguard, Toolcraft BCG- about $320 shipped a few years ago
Stripped KP15- maybe 120 with tax
Lower parts from another PSA kit- maybe 40 bucks worth?
Aero mount- 85 shipped
Leupold 2.5x20- 150ish off here

5.8 pounds as pictured, 6.8 with a loaded 20 round pmag. I've added a Slade foregrip and a Polytac 18650 light in an Odin Works mount but haven't weighed it with those.

Attachment Attached File

I have a 20" Faxon Gunner that I need to build up. I'm using a regular lower that currently has an A2 stock on it. I forgot how heavy those were so I'm looking for a lightweight rifle stock. I also want a no F/A upper and a lightweight 15" rail. I'll start with my Razor HD LH 2-10. I think I can keep this at 7 pounds with optic, maybe less.

Edit- realized I had a picture of when I got the lower and hadn't assembled it yet!

Well, I finally made it into this thread, barely.

5 lbs. 13 oz.

KE Arms KP-15 monolithic polymer lower with a PTAC M4gery slickside upper and a lightweight BCG from our overlords.

It actually shoots really well especially considering that I have less than $600 in it.

Sorry for the crummy photo. Buddy brought by his scale on the way home from work. Have had this build done for a while and happy with how it turned out for the amount I have in it.

This is with fully loaded 30rd p mag and Og turbo.

Nice build, like the use of the KE Arms lower but why is your rear BUIS so far forward? Elongate that sight radius!

This is my budget lightweight build. It’s primarily parts out of my spare parts pile with a lot of belt sander and drill press work, with the exception of a few small parts and the Faxon pencil barrel.

4lbs 14.8oz Bare

5lbs 6.2oz with mag, optic and mount.

The finish is alumacote. I’m hoping it flattens out a bit as it finishes curing. If not, I’m going to hit it with some 0000 steel wool.

ETA the other side

I finished my dream build yesterday and will post full details in the build thread. Overkill was the goal, obviously. No polymer or skeleton parts, no compromises on durability. It’s been a year long project.

10.5” 300AAC, 4.55 lb with fat left in it. This is with thread protector, no MD. Will be 100% suppressed when my Nomad Ti jailbreaks.

I can drop another 3.5oz easily but want to see how this combo shoots first.  As shown will come in a touch under 5.5lb with optic and suppressor. I am pleased.

@brachiosaur
How do you like that fixed Leupold? It's the 2.5x, FX-II, right? I'm REALLY considering it for a .308.

Also, how's that suburban running?

I just put a new LM7 into a 2000 with the barn doors. I love it.
Link Posted: 1/25/2022 4:23:08 PM EDT
[#19]
Yes it's the 2.5x FX-II, I really like it (the scope, not the Sub )! Glass is nice and clear and I can shoot with both eyes open. I have the +2" Aero mount but the +1" would have been fine. I want to buy one or two more; one for a lever gun* and maybe one for the second KP15 I bought recently. I have another PSA 16" upper that I don't love; considering re-barreling it with a Faxon Gunner and sticking it on that KP15. With the same setup (flashlight and mount, 2.5x and mount, sling) it'll probably be close to 6.5 pounds so out of the running for this thread.

I don't like having anything even close to obstructing the charging handle. The extra inch or so doesn't seem to affect accuracy that much.

14.5" faxon pencil pin and weld, darklight magnesium handguard, bootleg adjustable bcg, lwrc uciw buffer tube with a custom 0.7oz buffer, modified MFT minimalist stock, and a bunch of V7/2A armament lightweight parts.

5lbs 8oz no can. 6lbs 3oz with the turbo K. It is very tempting to pull the backup irons and the light off this build.

6.25lbs, which isn't bad for an accurized precision rifle with a 16" barrel, standard weight BCG, and 1-6x24 LPVO. No compromise in reliability or durability.

One of the latest builds I did, still deciding on things. Grip and stock are temporary, and I might move the mount and razor to a lightweight .308 build, and shed optic weight. Rifle was right at 4.5lbs and a hair under 7lbs with 1-10 Razor/Badger mount,  and Thunder chicken suppressor. I have a saker 556 with plan B that I’ve been running on it lately for it’s smaller size, but It weighs more than the Thunder Chicken. But the saker is also a overbuilt tank. Both 3 shot and 5 shot groups @ 100yds were all sub MOA like the reports I read when researching barrel specs. Vseven makes outstanding barrels though very pricey.
Gun shoots fast and handles fantastic.

Specs:

Vseven enlightened receiver set
Vseven fluted light barrel assembly with their GB setup, with optional head spaced bolt.
Vseven cam pin
Vseven Hyperlight rail
Vseven titanium FP
Vseven ultra lightweight mag and bolt release,
Vseven h2 buffer
Vseven enhanced buffer tube,
Vseven silent coated buffer spring,
Vseven lw castle nut,
Vseven ultra lw port door with modified receiver rod,
Vseven ultra LW pivot pins,
Vseven ultra LW charging handle,
Vseven 3gun safety one-sided,
Vseven trigger pins for ARGold

Non Vseven parts:
ArGold adjustable trigger
Bootleg adjustable bcg (using Vseven bolt.)
Badger Ordnance 1.93 mount. (J-arm is awaiting an RMR)
Vortex gen 3 1-10 with throw lever
Standard lpk springs
Q cherry bomb (for Thunder Chicken, or Saker 556/plan b)

Since this is the 'ULTRA light weight' thread, no, this doesn't count.  'Ultra light weight' implies that you actually tried to make it light, which, clearly you didn't.

This one did get finished up, in full NP3 plating and a mix of cerakote for cosmetics for parts that couldn't be plated. I even took apart the CTR stock and plated what I could. End weight was around 5 lbs, 10 ounces. JP LMOS bolt carrier, JP silent buffer, Andros carbon fiber receiver extension, SLR rifleworks titanium adjustable gas block, B.E. Meyers 249 flash suppressor, Proof Research 14.5" barrel, Railscales KOS panels and Railscales QDX sling mounts, Scalarworks optic mount. Trijicon RMR 1moa dot size. Modlite 18650 with an OKW lamp head. Lots of small parts from FDC and V7.

I used one of these for an AR I assembled for my BIL. It shoots better than my 16" SS pencil barrel PSA that made him want an AR. Hell, it shoots better than any of my 16" ARs. It's light, too.

I bought one recently (the lower rifle) but have only taken it out once. I will say the NiB BCG in my older one feels nicer though that could be the stock breaking in. This is a backup/iron sight rifle, it functions and is mostly sighted in.

One of the answered questions on the page for the upper said that a very similar one weighed 3.25 lbs.

I weighed the upper for my BIL but can't remember how much it was but 3.25 lb. sounds close.

With a Magpul stock and grip on a PSA SNEK lower w/PSA lower kit, MBT-2S trigger, UTG M-LOK sling mount & swivel, silent sling, and PA red dot it weighed 6 lb. 8 oz.

Found a crappy picture of the AR. It had a slightly different lightweight handguard than the upper PSA has on sale now.

Finally received the PSA pencil weight upper I bought 2 weeks ago. Guess they are super busy with orders.

Kinda disappointed in the barrel. It’s kinda a in between pencil weight and medium weight. Think a few Oz could be shaved off for sure.

Here is it compared to my faxon pencil in the camo.

The build quality is very nice and really like the rail. Although a carbon fiber would be lighter in weight.
