Nothing. The gov provides to them. They got DUNS for grants and stuff. Not sure about CAGE. The camp and the school board can obtain federal surplus property through DLA and FEPP, but that requires a DoDAAC not a CAGE as far as I know.

I got my UID labels from CLW as well. Took me a bit of googling to find the codes for Aero and Noveske.

Here's an example - my issued Colt M4 with a pretty low serial number and the TACOM CAGE code. I'd be interested to know if CLW could reproduce this style of tag with what appears to be slightly larger font, or maybe the tag isn't as long (I'll have to go back and measure it). The result is that the text is more crowded together than on their current design. I'll have to drop them a note. If I was building a clone of this rifle, it would drive my OCD crazy to have to apply the tag crooked like this.

You can actually just check the bottom of Noveske's magazines (which are really just D&H with Noveske baseplates, which was disappointing to me).

A label isn’t useful if you can’t reliably read it.  I have never seen engraved barcode labels of any kind that were reliable enough to read with a scanner.

Every label I’ve used, whether it was a thick chunk of metal with bars so thick you could feel them, or foil labels that looked like they were too thin to get off the backing, has worked perfectly.  The two things that were common to all of these labels were that they have very high contrast between the printing and the background, and that they maintained this contrast despite age and cleaning agents.

Having some SBR lowers laser engraved (I got to stand there and watch Bill Gray of Gray Laser do the work), I have noticed that laser engraved aluminum presents very poor contrast.  And it’s easy to reduce that contrast even more - which is something SBR owners are fond of.

Are you guys able to read your labels?

My phones app won't pick up the qr code on the label from CLW but it will read the qr colt engraved on the lower.

Not a big deal really just wondering if you guys are having the same issue.

It's not a QR code.  It's ECC200, which is called for in MIL-STD-130N.  QR codes have distinctive squares at three corners, while ECC200 has distinctive solid left and bottom edges.

yes, but where it was creased in the corner it started to peal. i guess from rubbing on gear at that point of the corner crease. envelop it was shipped in must have been bent in route to me. Id suggest a card board insert to the manufacture before shipping in the future. Id pay an extra 50 cent for it or dollar

Some research would need to be done here, but I suspect that's correct, and most of the Freedom Group family products would only be sold to the DoD through Rem Defense.

I don't think DoD has procured Bushmaster products since the early 1990's, when it was the old Bushmaster plant in Maine.

Would there be any USAF specific part number for a standard M4 outside of the regular M4 part number? All their GAU/GUU designations confuse me lol

I have a standard M4 style AR and want to use a USAF designation for it if there's one available.

I just used Custom UID tag for Mk25/M11-A1 3.2 cm x 0.7cm  for my edc compact to give you size reference. I carry it 3-4 times a week since Sept. 29, 2017 to give you an idea of what the tags hold up too.

Why did the Gov't use (17V) as a prefix for the cage code on the newer square UID labels?  I'm sure it means something, just not sure what it is.
