To whom ever found out that the Les Baer is really made by Young MFG, and sold by Brownell's....THANK YOU!!! Ever since I first saw the Les Baer, I wanted it, but $200 is way pricey for a front flip up. I believe I can actually accept $98 for the Young one. THANK YOU!!!! Boot. |
Hkspecialist.net it has been a few months, so I am not sure if still available. They weren't on his webpage when I bought mine, and they still aren't Pic

NOthing wrong with it unless you plan on mounting a large scope, in which case it may be a bit too high. if mounting an aimpoint, eotech or acog you should be fine. |
Look at the Matech Industries 600-meter backup iron sight. |

I've scanned thru this, and I didn't see an answer. I need to mount an ACOG TA01, with a LaRue ACOG Mount, on a flat top upper. PLUS, I need to mount a BUIS that will FIT under the LaRue/ACOG setup. ANYONE have an idea of what will work? |

I tried this out on a new thread (first post) but it failed miserably. I'll try to keep it shorter here. Compared to fixed sights (handguard and standard front tower) used in Service Rifle Competitions, how well can the flip up iron sights maintain the same kind of accuracy? I'm thinking of these smaller iron sights as the primary so I can drop a scope or battery optics on top whenever the spirit movies me. Thanks! |
| Would anyone happen to know where I could find a replacement clamp, crossbar, and nut for an ARMS 40L BUIS? Mine managed to work its way loose when I was out shooting a couple weeks ago, and I didn't notice when it fell off. I noticed it was gone when the BUIS itself was sliding up and down the rail. Thanks. |

What is the lowest sitting rear BUIS on a flatop ? I have an IOR M1 scope in a LaRue SPR 1.5 mount and my ARMS 40L just isn't low sitting enough to fit under the scope. Any suggestions out there for a lower sitting rear BUIS than the ARMS 40L ? He-e-l-l-p-p-p ! |

Hey guys two quick questions: 1) can one use a more forward mounted long eye relief "scout" style low power scope and still have an LMT A2 style sight installed?, 2) can one mount a Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T with the same LMT A2 sight, or on a UTE 2 RRA upper receiver and have it cowitness with the sight and still have it work OK when you crank it up the scope power? thanks |

Looking through a rear peep will not effect the scope at all. If it does not bother you, it will work just fine. On question 2, your issue will be with the front sight. With any magnification at all, the front sight will blur because it is so close to the objective lens. However, when you turn the magnification above 3, it will start to disapear. Below 3x, it will still work, but the front sight "fuzzy shadow" is annoying. YMMV TalonArms.com |

What's the optimum distance between a front and rear BUIS? Is it just "as far apart as you can get them?" or is there more to it? I have an 18" Bushmaster VMatch upper that I just put a rifle-length free-float tube on. Got a GG&G MAD for the rear BUIS and the standard GG&G front BUIS. Should I put the front sight clear at the front of the tube, or perhaps more over the (carbine length) gas block? Thanks in advance, |

I recently pickied up a STAG Model -15 that has a A.R.M.S. 40L sight I have tried desperately to find information regarding the sights use, but there is no "owner's manual" available thus far. Specific question: 1. What is the cut in the top of the peeps used for? I tried it at short range and it was like dead on at 7 paces, but any frther than that and it's high. Is it a quick reaction thing or what? Someone please help the newbie out...... ![]() |

The reason your shots are higher is because the bullet is still climbing. If you zero at 50 yards you should be 1" to 2" low at 25 yards, dead on at 50 yards, two inches high at 100 yards, dead on at 220 yards and around 3 inches low at 300 yards depending on your ammo, barrel length ect. This is to accommodate the arc of the bullet's trajectory. I have no clue on the cut. I have never noticed one on my #40L TalonArms.com |

| I'm looking into getting an ARMS #40 BUIS for my Bushmaster M4A3. I've seen a few threads where people with Stag uppers have had problems with zeroing because the ARMS BUIS is made for use with Colts that have the carbine "F" marked FSB. Bushys don't have the "F" marked FSB just like Stags and on the Bushmaster website they recommend the .040" taller front sight post for the ARMS #40 and #40L. I saw a thread where someone couldn't zero their ARMS BUIS with the .040" taller front sight installed and I've also seen some people running the ARMS without the taller front sight post. What gives? Anyone out there with an ARMS #40 on a Bushmaster upper? I'd appreciate you chiming in with your "zeroing" experience. |
I have an ARMS 40L on my STAG 2T and I love it...solid and no problems...well thought out. I just bought a 2nd ARMS 40L to mount on my Duty rifle...a Bushmaster 16"...behind mt EOTech 553....I liked my first so much that I bought a second. |

A critical piece of info on all this is the actual dimensions of the BUIS both folded and open. Maybe some of the manufacturers can post this data??? I know the TROY is about the best rear I have seen in that is is extremely high quality, sturdy and one of the lowest folded sights I have found. |
Fire in the Hole!
The Eotech 512 mounted directly on the flattop receiver will co-witness exactly with the Matech PADS BUIS and the original front sight tower or a YHM front flip sight/gas block sight... Since the 553 'reticle' is in the same place... Forrest |
| Has anyone compiled a table that includes the folded down heights of the rear buis yet? This information would be a great asset for those with scopes on their rifles. If this doesn't exist yet, would you guys/gals take a minute and measure your own buis and post the findings? This would make an already informative thread even better. Thanks |
Froms Arms site: Designed for U.S. Special Operations Forces and under contract with Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center. The P stands for precision .50 MOA, = minute of angle means at 100 meters, each click of the windage knob moves the point of impact .50 left or right. The sight also has new notches above the round apertures for faster CQB engagements inside of 50 meters and also for long range 500-600 meter. New improved features include the Notched aperture for CQB and long range engagements, .50 precision windage adjustments, and captivated nut. Item: #40L-P™ |
I'm running them on a garage build. Unlike my past experience with HK sights [I haven't used/held a HK 416 though] the rear site does not change elevation, but only aperture size -- "4" is larger than "2", but maintains the same POI. And, as a side note, there are three apertures, with the #1 spot being an open "V" notch. I'm 95% pleased with them, the -5% is they seem to have slightly lower tolerances in the rear drum than true HK parts, but I'd recommend them if they are the look you're after. ![]() |

n00b questions here... My first AR. The front sight was bothering me with the Eotech, so I removed it. I actually pounded one pin out the wrong way, noticed it was somewhat tapered, and found the second pin much, much easier. ![]() Here are my questions: 1. Should there be a gap between the top and bottom portions of the YHM gas block/front sight mount, or should they fit flush together? 2. Should I be worried that there is non-finished barrel metal showing? 2a. Does that mean the gas block is not seated properly? 2b. How should I touch up the exposed area; alum. black? I did my best to eyeball the gas block opening over the hole in the barrel. I won't have a chance to test fire the rifle for a week or two. I am prepared to make slight adjustments at the range. Overall, is this how that front sight/gas block should look? Thank you for your input. |

I have replaced a couple of front sight towers with the YHM front flip sight/gas block for use with an Eotech too... 1. The gap between the top and bottom halves of the YHM gas block is normal. Just tighten the allen head screws securely, keeping the space on the two sides about the same. 2. I just cold blue the unfinished metal that was under the front sight tower that is exposed when you take it off to mount the YHM front sight. I cold blue it before mounting the new gas block. I suppose that it doesn't really hurt to leave it bright (except perhaps promoting rust), but I don't like the look of the unfinished metal showing. 2a. The cap the holds the front of the handguard bottoms out against a shoulder on the barrel. If you have pushed the metal front handguard cap solidly back against the step in the barrel when you push the new YHM gas block back, you've mounted the new gas block as far back as possible. I've noted a small band of exposed unfinished barrel with the ones that I've mounted, but not as much as your photos shows. I'm guessing that you're all right and you just have a rig that exposes about the max amount of unfinished barrel. 2b. Again, I just use cold blue. You could certainly paint it if you wanted to... However, since the barrel is parked, the paint might not match that well... I've been very happy with the YHM flip sight/gas block and the Matech PADS BUIS to back up an Eotech 512. Have fun... | Does the KAC Flip-Up Front Sight (P/N: 99051) rattle in the secured/down position, with about 1/8" free play there? I returned one that did, which was brand new in the plastic and box, only to receive another one from a different dealer, also brand new in the plastic and box that rattles as well! I just want to confirm that I did not receive two defective KAC sights and that this is how it is designed before I puchase Troys. |
