The finished 607. I went with the forward assist upper and full pistol grip since that appears to be how the contract GX-5857 rifles were built. I chose the GX-5857 markings instead of 607 because I simply had to have "Property of U.S. Govt" on the left side. Anodizing of the lower, receiver extension, buttplate and stock latch by US Anodizing. They also did the upper. It's a Colt/US Ordnance XM177E2 repop upper. US Anodizing did the ano work for US Ordnance. Victor knew what he'd done for them and matched the ano quite close. Not a drop of Moly-Resin anywhere on the gun. All the parts sourced and finished by so many different suppliers and it all matches so well. Perhaps too well. JT cut and threaded the barrel and installed the (faux) moderator. Rear handguard cap by Braceman. It is a lot of fun to shoot and was worth all the effort. But the cut down handguards means they aren’t as big around at the back. This brings the gas tube to just below the teeth. Let you fingers get down into the vents and it will burn you but good. Damn, almost forgot to give a shout out to Matt at 607stock.com. Amazing work. Thanks Matt! https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/493638/607_2_NS-1276134.jpg https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/493638/607_1_JPG-1276133.jpg https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/493638/607_3_NS-1276135.jpg View Quote |

Looks nice. Is there a birthday hiding inside those serial numbers? I do the same thing. My son asked me if there was one with his birthday. I told him no, that was for him to build.

Here is one NOS retro M16 I got from a Colt executive. It is one of the first SMGs they did right before the 86 ban. Before the ban they register this receiver (Serial #9) and stuck it in the safe for nearly 20 years. They took it out the safe and put it on the assembly line to be built up as a RO635 in 2004. So in Colts internal database, it has two mfg dates. One in 1985 and one in 2004. The other thing I got is a NOS DOE upper for it. https://i.imgur.com/vVv8puD.jpg View Quote Here’s my very civilian 9 mm, at least they look similar Attached File |

Tired of having extra parts sitting idle. Original Colt upper C MP C barrel, bolt receiver & handguards. Brownell's 601 lower. For some reason I'm thinking the barrel is 1/12 and I've used it at an Appleseed shoot. Have to dig through a couple boxes to find a sling.
