Just put together this fun little 652-inspired carbine. C MP Chrome Bore 14.5" barrel, with an extended flash hider pinned on by ADCO. Upper is brownells. I really dig this combo.

The finished 607.  I went with the forward assist upper and full pistol grip since that appears to be how the contract GX-5857 rifles were built.  I chose the GX-5857 markings instead of 607 because I simply had to have "Property of U.S. Govt" on the left side.  Anodizing of the lower, receiver extension, buttplate and stock latch by US Anodizing.  They also did the upper.  It's a Colt/US Ordnance XM177E2 repop upper.  US Anodizing did the ano work for US Ordnance.  Victor knew what he'd done for them and matched the ano quite close.  Not a drop of Moly-Resin anywhere on the gun.  All the parts sourced and finished by so many different suppliers and it all matches so well.  Perhaps too well.  JT cut and threaded the barrel and installed the (faux) moderator.  Rear handguard cap by Heatnbeat.  It is a lot of fun to shoot and was worth all the effort.  But the cut down handguards means they aren’t as big around at the back.  This brings the gas tube to just below the teeth.  Let you fingers get down into the vents and it will burn you but good.  Damn, almost forgot to give a shout out to Matt at 607stock.com.  Amazing work.  Thanks Matt!

Nordic Marksman up here in Canada, they sporadically get small batches of Diemaco/CC surplus. Only 20 of these kits this time around, I've been waiting for a while. Like an other posted, they don't export this stuff though.

Looks sweet; barrel length? Can not tell from here; would look like 14.5?

Looks nice.  Is there a birthday hiding inside those serial numbers?  I do the same thing.  My son asked me if there was one with his birthday.  I told him no, that was for him to build.

The buttstock and pistol grip on this 601 are real.  I painted a set of handguards for this one.

I painted a mix of Kona brown and almond paints, masked with paste wax, then sprayed with Testors FS 34079.

A couple of retro-ish carbines.  Barrels are too long, no markings whatsoever, and the top one is a blasphemous 300 BLK.

Here is one NOS retro M16 I got from a Colt executive. It is one of the first SMGs they did right before the 86 ban. Before the ban they register this receiver (Serial #9) and stuck it in the safe for nearly 20 years. They took it out the safe and put it on the assembly line to be built up as a RO635 in 2004. So in Colts internal database, it has two mfg dates. One in 1985 and one in 2004. The other thing I got is a NOS DOE upper for it.

Wow that’s a fantastic kit. So it’s a full auto, the real deal 635 ? Colour me with envy.

Here’s my very civilian 9 mm, at least they look similar

Thanks and yours looks great as well. Looks pretty much identical. It is a real deal 635. I got 3 M16 from that collection. All were NIB with factory serial number & model number specific UPC labels on the plastic bag and cardboard box. This one was the only SMG that I bought. The other ones are an A4 and M4. The A4 and M4 that I got are equally as rare, but the serial numbers cant compete to the SMG. They're about 40K each, so I just bought a flat top Colt 6991 (still in jail) to lug around, enjoy and not worry about scratches etc.

My humble “mashup” prototype, sort of a ArmaLite AR15 / 601 transitional “interpretation”....
It’s still a work in progress and I finally got the correct pieces in grey for the buffer tube and trigger guard today.

Are there any small bodies of water along the border you could meet me at, one small enough I could row across. I have been eyeballing those for awhile. Could you take a some good pics of the FSB, get a diameter measurement of the barrel after the FSB, then get a good pic of the taper to the Flash hider? Measure the length of the taper?

If you don’t want to no worries. I want to build one in the future and I don’t think I can/want to try to get a barrel through customs.

Always love seeing this rifle. Still trying to decide what SNs I am going to do.  I know #1 (probably countless times), #3, #5, #11 (when you finish) and #27 have been done.

Tired of having extra parts sitting idle. Original Colt upper C MP C barrel, bolt receiver & handguards. Brownell's 601 lower. For some reason I'm thinking the barrel is 1/12 and I've used it at an Appleseed shoot. Have to dig through a couple boxes to find a sling.
